F**k my life! I had nine broken mugs yesterday. My kiln seemed to have fired properly but once I started moving glazing all the pieces, it became clear that the bisqueware was too soft and something had gone wrong. I ran the kiln last night and, sure enough, this morning there’s an error message on the panel.
So rather than packing up your orders today as I’d planned it’s out with the tool kit 🔧 I’ll start with the elements and keep my fingers crossed.
This is pottery life.

It feels good to have my hands back on clay. I’m easing myself back into things gently while still being cautious after my surgery.
Huge thanks to everyone who sent a nice message or comment. How lovely you all are ❤️ I haven’t got through everything yet but hopefully by the weekend I’ll have read/responded to everyone.

Hi gang, just wanted to quickly say that I’m healing a little slower than I’d expected (classic from me, impatient and unrealistic) so I haven’t read through messages and emails yet. Apologies if you’re waiting to hear from me. I’d originally planned to slowly get back into things this week but I’ve managed to pick up a rotten cough and cold which is not helping. So I’m going to rest up for a few more days and hopefully next week I’ll be on the right side of mending. ❤️

I have another newsletter coming out today just to say that I have to skip a couple of the Tuesday & Wednesday releases. I thought I could plough through but it’s better for me to recover properly without overwhelming myself 🙏🏻

This is my mum, she’s flown over to help me. I’ve got a small operation today which is forcing me to slow down a bit. My mum is going to be in charge of packing all your orders 😍 Please forgive us if they take a smidge longer to dispatch than usual. My job for the next few days is to rest and try not to pop a stitch. I’m terrible at doing nothing but Mum is on the case. How lucky I am that she can drop everything and do this for me. Not bad for an 80 year old ❤️

I let her pick the song 🎵 🙂

Thanks to everyone who got stuck in yesterday. Sorry to those of you who tried (a lot) but didn’t manage to snag something. I know it’s not a perfect system but it’s the best I’ve got.

I got the usual smattering of correspondence from some unhappy peeps but I expect that now.

I’m just so bloody grateful that my work makes people happy and that some of you want to buy it. That’s the dream right there.

I’ve used this image of an old mug design because the sentiment seemed fitting. I was reminded of it because of a beautifully honest post by and I know she loves this phrase.

Must dig out that grey clay again….
