During my Sunday walk I found 🌻 𝑯𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒖𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒖𝒔 or Jerusalem artichokes usually named Topinambours in France 🇫🇷.

They are a species of sunflowers, an herbaceous perennial cultivated for their tubers. They look likes ginger and taste like artichokes.

You can find them on the banks of the rivers. I bring one plant at home to implants it in my garden and start growing perennials veggies.

All year along I payed attention in my garden to the Arum Life-Cycle.
Now they are at the end. The leaves have disappeared and all the berries are ripe.

So it’s the perfect pic for today theme of .

⚠️ HIGH RISK OF DEATH ☠️ Those berries are very toxic for humans and animals ⚠️ Only the birds 🐦 can eat them.

𝙉𝙞𝙘𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙖 𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙪𝙢 🌱 or cultivated tabacco is the guilty pleasure I am currently growing in my garden.

Tabacco was brought to Europe by Colombus and smoking tabacco was considered therapeutic. Now we are all aware about the toxicity of ci******es 🚬. At least this one will be organic and free of any additives use by the tabacco’s company.

What 𝕗𝕒𝕞𝕚𝕝𝕪 of vegetables do you have mostly in your garden ?

I was supposed to have mostly Solanaceae 🌶🥔🍅🍆 but my seedlings didn’t go well.
So instead I have mostly CuCurbitaceae. I have 13 species and varieties in total : cucumber 🥒, squash, pumpkin 🎃, cantaloupe 🍈 and zucchini.

For day 26 of the subject is “family”. I choose to talk about botanical family because it’s very important to know them to schedule correctly your and your crop rotations.

𝑳𝒂𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒔 𝒗𝒂𝒓 𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒖𝒑 or Royal Mallow has gained the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
They belong to the Malvaceae family as the Hibiscus 🌺.

The latin name trimestris refers to the 3 month of grow and bloom of this annual plant.
They are native to the Mediterranean region also they like full sun and heat.

The flowers 🌸 attract hummingbird and butterflies 🦋.

This spring was not as sunny as other years. Any tomatoes are ripe yet 😩!

𝐂𝐮𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐩𝐞𝐩𝐨 𝐯𝐚𝐫. 𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐚 or Pattypan squash are ready 🤗 !

It’s a summer squash like the zucchini also they give a lot of fruits to harvest frequently.

Let’s eat these beauty !

𝐙𝐚𝐫𝐳𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚 🇪🇸 or 𝐑𝐮𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐮𝐥𝐦𝐢𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬 can be so colorful 💜!

They are a species of wild blackberry commun in the Mediterranean area.

Until now I just let them grow wildly at the shady edge of my garden. In the future I want to organize more this part of my garden.

𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒐 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒂 or Ribwort Plantain is my favorite w**d 💚 in the garden. Apparently I’m not the only one enjoying them, the dragonflies too !

It’s used to make herbal teas ☕️ , syrup and herbal remedies for treatment of disorders like : the respiratory tract and infections.
Their leaves can also be used externally (fresh leave 🌱) for skin problems and insect bites.

I personally found it successful to calm 🐝 hornet’s stings and stinging nettles burns.

This Kale, 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒂 𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒂 𝒗𝒂𝒓. 𝒔𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂, is growing in the middle of the tomatoes 🍅, french beans, lettuce 🥬 and marigolds 🌼and looks really happy now !

It had a rough start in life. This year I really struggled with all the cabbage. The seedling was everyday damaged by snails 🐌.
At the time to transplant them only 3 were still alive and since I lost one more. This is the only plant getting big.

I am so proud of this kale that I choose it for my entry at the day 14 “Go Green”.

Not all the female flowers 🌼 will become a fruit !

I found those two on the floor today 😢. So it’s my entry for of .

It happens for two main raisons :
1-they were not pollinated 🐝.
2-the plant doesn’t have enough energy⚡️and sacrificed them.
