How and why did I start Eden Groundcare.

I left the railway working as a cable engineer back in the 90s and wasn't sure what I wanted to do.
Got a job tending flower/shrub beds, pruning techniques and hedge trimming I passed my pa1+pa6 herbicide license. I Started to learn plant names, best places for them to be planted and soil types. After 5 years it was time to move on and got employment working at a golf course where I learnt more about how to look after turf including scarifying, aeration and diseases, The grass had to be kept in tip top condition. After learning what I could I sought employment in the schools, track marking, grass cutting, hedge cutting and obtained my nvq 2.
Time passed and 5 years forward I became a head Gardener on a large site where I started looking after shrub / flower beds more planting and the best ways to look after plants. On site we had our own woodland so book in hand I started to deal with all our trees naming and learning about disease I also had to apply for any work as the site had a blanket TPO.

After a wonderful 5 years I Suddenly found myself made redundant.

After a few weeks of searching I decided to buy myself an old van, a few cheap tools and go it alone, it was a struggle finding work at the start but moving on 13 years I have now got some wonderful clients who also recommend me to others. I may not be the cheapest gardener but I believe you get what you pay for and pride myself in my work.


I am now taking bookings for 2025 for all gardening works including fencing, gazebos arbours and of course anything green and growing.
