Foxglove ‘Apricot beauty’
A little birdy suggested I grow foxglove. It was a stem she always seemed to miss out on when she went to the flower market down south.

I started the seeds in Fall of 2024 and planted the starts in the ground before the ground froze. Foxglove are biennial meaning I would have to wait until spring of 2025 for flowers.
I waited all year and only saw foliage. Normally I would have kicked them out for taking space and not producing a sellable stem. Something told me to give it another Spring and so far I’m really glad I did.

I harvested the first stem and brought it in the shop so that I could get to know her a little better- test the vase life, watch how she opens and think about how I will transport this beauty to

When I started Sweet Peas as a home gardener I usually started them in February or March.

Now that I grow Sweet Peas to sell blooms to designers, I start them earlier so that I can have them as soon as possible. I stagger start them throughout the month of January. The first ones to start are the ones that need less hours of light to flower ( Spring and Winter Sunshine varieties) since those are the first ones I will want to get in the ground to ensure I have blooms as soon as possible. (End of May/Early June)

When starting +1800 I don’t want them to all be ready to transplant at the same time. Ive learned that crawling around on the ground transplanting is rough on the body. When I break down the task it’s less overwhelming and kinder to my body.

I will transplant the Sweet Pea starts throughout the month of March which is also the same time I’m getting other cold hardy annuals in the ground and harvesting daffodils and possibly Tulips!

By the end of March I will know how many extra starts I’ll have and will have them for sale at the roadside stand. If you are interested in purchasing Sweet Pea starts and want to be notified when they are available send me a DM to get on the waitlist. I will for sure have Kings Ransom and Shell Pink starts.

There is still time to start Sweet Pea seeds and there are a few varieties left in the shop- Link in bio
