Latest project : making a raised bed out of used scaffold planks. Each plank is 9 inch wide by 1.4 inch thickness. Very easy to make, just cut to size required and screw together.

I have made a wooden lid, and then waterproofed it with polythene, hopefully producing a watertight lid for your hedgehog house or hedgehog shelter. As usual it's just made using common sense, you may think of another way of waterproofing, there's probably several variations. Anyway, what ever the method, the end result aimed for, is providing the nations hedgehog, a dry safe place in which to hibernate.

HI, this is a video where i show how to create a felt roof for a hedgehog shelter, or what ever it is that is need of a felt roof. I complete the roof in heat applied torch on felt, although, this method of felting a roof is readily transferable to self adhesive DIY felts available at DIY stores. It's a really simple but effective way to felt a very small roof, though i do recommend that you do the roof in 2 layers, with the first layer being the main means of waterproofing, and the top layer, both a waterproofing layer, and one which looks nice.

Hi, this is the latest video in my beginners in woodworking series. How to to keep the hedgehogs warm dry snug and cozy, so they arrive in the spring, fit strong and ready to go. Though not woodwork, it shows how to apply a roof to the lid of the hedgehog house woodwork for beginners project. I was a felt roofer for 30 years, so hopefully this will be of use to you. Hi, i have just upload some pics and a video about how to install a heat applied felt roof to your hedgehog house, as a finishing touch to the woodworking for beginners series of video's. As you can see i use a naked flame to stick the torch on felt i.e felt pre coated with bitumen. This roof should keep the hedgehog shelter warm cozy and dry resulting in hopefully a happy spring times hedgehog. With a little thought, this method of enveloping the felt could easily be adapted to cold applied felts on sale at virtually all DIY stores. Hope this info is of use, cheers Stevo.

Showing how to make the roof out of wood, and prep the bitumen backed felt (torch on felt) in readiness for sticking it to the wood via a naked flame from a gas gun. Hi, in this video i show beginners to woodwork how to put together a basic lid out of wood, i then prepare some high performance felt in readiness for applying a torch on felt to the roof of the hedgehog shelter. In the next video i will torch on the felt to the wooden lid, which will then make a water tight, nice looking lid to sit a top of the hedgehog shelter. This will help keep the hedgehog house nice and dry, resulting in the structure itself with standing winters worse, keeping the bedding dry, and the hedgehog nice and warm. The hedgehog house should also last longer if not constantly getting too wet.

Hello an welcome to this third video in creating your hedgehog house. All of the information to make this hedgehog shelter was gleaned via google searches, there is a lot of information out there about hedgehogs and how to make them a hedgehog home. Snugly snoozing within their own place, sleeping away the cold harsh months of winter, wonder if they dream ?. And so we can all help our hedgehogs survive the winter, and help boost our seriously declining hedgehog numbers across the UK, and in our very own city of Nottingham. And our reward is we get hedgehogs living in our back gardens. :)
In this video i make a hedgehog house, the ingredients of which comprise....using the woodworking skills gained from my time as a roofer, add a bit of common sense, mix well with info gain via google searches and serve.
In my next video i show how to felt the lid of the hedgehog shelter to make a waterproof, solid, protective hibernation box roof top
