What a transformation on this family garden in Lurgan, Co. Armagh.

The brief was clear: tackle a poorly drained lawn, remove an old rotten decking area, and reimagine an underused children’s play space into a functional garden that could be enjoyed throughout the day and into the evening.

The result is a contemporary outdoor space designed around the sun’s movement, with multiple patio areas positioned to maximise morning, afternoon and evening sunshine. A new sheltered seating area creates the perfect spot to relax and entertain long after the sun goes down.

Sometimes we don’t talk about the projects that don’t go to plan… but this one is worth sharing.

The client had already sourced their own contractor to carry out the landscaping works. Unfortunately, the workmanship simply wasn’t up to the standard required, and the project wasn’t progressing as it should.

After reaching out to us for advice, we put them in touch with one of our trusted landscaping partners

The decision was made to strip the site right back and start again from the ground up. It wasn’t the easiest route, but it was the right one.

The result? A stunning outdoor space featuring a large-format porcelain patio supplied by Coolestone , bespoke planting beds, pergola supplied by JacksonsofMoira , hot tub area, and a beautifully finished garden designed to be enjoyed for years to come.

This project is a perfect example of why we only recommend and work alongside tradesmen we know, trust, and can stand over. Quality design deserves quality workmanship.

This compact walled garden has been completely reimagined to create a stylish, low-maintenance outdoor space that feels bigger, brighter, and ready for summer.

By working with the existing split levels, we created distinct zones for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying the sun throughout the day. A new lawn area softens the space and provides year-round greenery, while carefully selected planting adds texture, structure, and seasonal interest without demanding constant upkeep.

The raised borders frame the garden beautifully, helping to define the space while keeping maintenance simple. The summerhouse remains a focal point, offering a versatile retreat for storage, hobbies, or a quiet place to unwind.

This elevated site came with its challenges, but also huge potential. Working with the natural levels, we designed a space that’s both practical and beautiful—perfect for relaxing and entertaining.

The team at Mc ateer paving took to the challenge and as always delivered. Structuring the levels to allow for more user friendly family spaces.

The use of superior porcelain tiles and granite cobbles from coolestoneni ensured a high level of quality throughout!
