Started growing kale a few years ago and it became one of my favourite things to grow on the balcony.

Some of these are grown from seeds, and some from side sprouts of my older dinosaur kale.

The best thing about kale is that the plant can keep producing leaves for a long time.

I grow my kale plants in pots, with well draining potting mix, daily watering, and a bit of Bio Plus 8-8-8 after each harvest. Morning sunlight is enough for the plants, after all they are cool climate crops.

My favourite varieties are dinosaur kale, black Tuscan and dwarf green curled. These give me the best yield and are nice for salads.

These Taiwan white bittergourds started from seeds a fellow gardener I got to know via Facebook passed to me… the seeds were from Taiwan 🥹

Grew them on my balcony. I didn’t even put up trellis (too lazy 😅), just let them climb wherever they want… all over the other plants.

I enjoy growing Bittergourd. I don’t love eating them as much but because I grow them, I do consume them. I gave the biggest one to my parents who enjoy eating Bittergourd more than me 😆.

First time having four soft blush pink Carey roses blooming all at once and they last for days, unlike most of my other roses that give me just a fleeting one day show.

They may not be the most fragrant, but they are just so beautiful in their own way.

I’ve been sharing quite a bit about roses lately. Maybe a little obsessed… but this love has been with me since I was a little girl. Never imagined I would one day be growing them at home and watching them bloom like this. 🩷

We’ve been trying to plan this gardeners’ meetup for ages! So glad we finally did it! Huge thanks to Alexys & Marcus of .sg for hosting us at this gem of a farm right in the middle of Orchard (Liat Towers). Gorgeous space, lovely people and yummy food (there was home made banana bread, oysters, champagne, a very delicious hojicha pie and too much food). Such good vibes all around! 💚 We even foraged herbs from the farm for dinner.

William Shakespeare 2000, it is such a lovely rose with a beautiful scent. Thank you ZH for the rose cutting. 😍

Went for an Edible Wild Plants walk yesterday. We learnt about the heritage of Margaret Market and walked around the neighbourhood to look for weeds. I never realised how many of the “weeds” we pass by daily are actually edible (and even medicinal). 🌱

I was also happy to finally meet in person. Back in 2021 during Covid, I attended his Zoom gardening workshop, and that was when I first learnt how much goes into potting mix to ensure structure, minerals, nutrients… that knowledge really helped me. Without it, I might not even have my balcony garden today, or this IG account to share the journey. 💚

Popped by Hort fest 2025, part of the Community in Bloom 20 celebrations. FOMO since everyone I know has been here! Had a couple of hours free while my daughter was at Chinese class, so I got my hubby to drive me down to check it out and catch up with gardening friends. Much to my lazy son’s displeasure. Grouchy coz he couldn’t stay home to play Roblox! 🙄

I was happy to see Jen from again, finally met and chat with Meera from in person.

Also ended up bringing home two pots of orchids 😅… so much for downsizing my balcony jungle! 🌸 I blame it on for his orchid posts. 😝
