Ohio has too many invasive plant species and noxious weeds to list but common culprits are Honeysuckle and Bradford Pear (stinky!!). We follow ODA guidelines and only allow licensed chemical application by trained professionals.

Grading work involves leveling the ground either as prep for an installation (shed, barn, pavers etc) or to simply flatten the earth for accessibility🚶

Fence clearing and fence-line clearing removes vegetation (vines, weeds, grass etc) from fences and property lines - the before and after is dramatic! This improves curb appeal and the views 👀

Did someone say Armyworms? Knowledge is power… 🧐

They can destroy yards 🏡, crops 👩‍🌾 and golf courses ⛳️. Killing the entire area or leaving burnt and bare spots requiring treatments and sometimes aeration to remedy.

💦 irrigating to protect from sun burn is a key first move, if you already have damage present

These fall Armyworm caterpillars vary in color but can be IDed by a white Y shape mark behind their head.

They likely blew in to Ohio from the South a few weeks back during storms, they can travel over 500+ miles in 24 hours and can use jetstreams to go far 🌬

Adults lay eggs on flat leaves/flowers that overhang turf, even on fence/lamp posts. 👀 look for white fuzzy masses, or little strips of eggs on grass blades

Cannibals 😯 they will feed until there is no food left or their development is complete, whichever comes 1st. If the plant food is exhausted, they become meat-eaters (big caterpillars eating smaller to complete their development)
