đź’§ TEST PUMPING PROCESS
Test pumping is an important stage after borehole drilling and development. It helps determine whether the borehole can provide a reliable and sustainable water supply.
The process includes:
✅Borehole development – The borehole is flushed and cleaned to remove drilling materials and fine sediments.
Pump installation – A test pump is lowered into the borehole to the appropriate depth.
✅Step-drawdown test – Pumping is carried out at different flow rates to assess how the water level responds.
✅Constant-rate pumping – The borehole is pumped continuously, commonly over an extended period such as 24 hours, while monitoring water levels and discharge.
✅Water-level monitoring – Static water level and drawdown are recorded during pumping.
Recovery test – After pumping stops, the recovery of the water level is monitored.
✅Yield assessment – The results are analysed to estimate the borehole's sustainable yield and guide pump selection and equipping.
🌟Why test pumping matters:
It helps avoid installing an oversized or undersized pump and provides evidence on how the borehole performs under sustained pumping conditions.
