Bell Mountain House Surprise! We bought a 1930’s farmhouse. Documenting our adventure of renovating and enjoying an old home in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Jason has been VERY BUSY in the kitchen!! Major progress on the trim, doors, and windows! The interior window has been installed, after major restoration. It still needs new glass and it’s final paint, which will match the cabinets and trim. Paint color is “Sensible Hue.” All of the trim was so damaged and caked with years of (probably) lead paint that he ended up removing it and recreating the original trim. However, he did completely strip the basement door (far right door.) See last 3 photos of what the house looked like when we bought it. 😱 We are loving how it’s coming out!!

Major before and after happening here! It’s been a longggggggg (almost) 2 years but we are finally feeling big time progress!! 🥹🥹🥹 It’s so hard to believe what the kitchen and breakfast room looked like before! 😱 Floor is actually LVT from and we love how it turned out. Major love goes out to Jason who spent the last 2 weeks working around the clock to finish these 2 rooms. 💔💔🥹 Next up, cabinet install!! 😍

PART 1: So, we are doing something crazy— an interior window / glass partition between the dining room and kitchen! 🙀 We found out we can’t replace the actual tiny window in the kitchen without potentially replacing all the siding on the exterior of the house (it’s ridiculous), so we’re stuck with a small window for light. We wanted to keep as much light flow as possible between the two rooms, while still keeping the wall intact. Also, we are not huge fans of open concept. Also, we kind of wanted to do something to nod at the original double sided cabinets that used to be in the space. Jason found this beautiful steel casement window on FB marketplace. Voilà! Progress!

Hello everyone! If you’ve been wondering where we’ve been, we are still alive and the house is still standing. We just finished the summer of many weddings and many 40th birthday celebrations. We had zero time at Bell mountain. I’ve been terrible about posting because we’ve been super busy at the house for a few weekends now, trying to reinstall the radiators before the house freezes. 🥶 Anyways, updates (hopefully) to come!! Pic from last weekend having a beer on the back deck.

… is a whole lotta nothing? Joking! But seriously the past 3 weekends have had multiple conversations in circles about everything because we have too many things to design and not enough time to plan/figure out on site. This is a great example of how things are going in the downstairs bathroom/laundry room/dining room. 🤪🤪🤪.

PRETTTYYY NICE!!! Swipe for before and after. Jason tested out painting one of the radiators black and we love it! SO CHIC. We had thought about swapping them all out with fancier, prettier Victorian ones but these are original to the house. (They were all hidden with wooden box covers when we got the house seen in pix 3 & 4.) Now we just have to paint alllllll of them black. 😬🖤

We removed the front bushes! Ok these things were overgrown and had bare patches, they had to go. I was nervous, but I think it was the right move! Now you can see the porch, which we need to fix and power wash. Thinking about some hydrangeas and pretty flowers here? 😍

Took a little stroll around to brainstorm about the area down by the creek. Eventually we will use those bricks that we took up a few weeks ago and make stairs?! Hopefully! And then do a gravel firepit down in the clearing by the creek. Big plans, and lots to do! 🤞🤞
