A Cemetery That Feels Like a Living Museum in Singapore

In Singapore’s Choa Chu Kang Cemetery, the landscape tells stories through objects, memories, and cultural symbols.

It becomes a space where grief is shared, and memory is visible.

It made me wonder:
What if cemeteries were designed to heal people?

And how beautiful would it be if this kind of design existed in Australia too?

How does movement shape what we feel in a space?

In this landscape example, everything is designed to guide you gently without confusion or stress. A clear path, soft edges, layered plants, and evenly spaced trees all work together to create a sense of calm, comfort, and direction.

You don’t think about where to go…
you just move and reflect.

We didn’t expect THIS to be the biggest carbon source 😳

We ran an embodied carbon assessment on a project… and the results shocked everyone.

👉 50% of the upfront carbon came from the foundations alone.

Steel. Concrete. Massive carbon impact.

Sometimes the biggest sustainability problems are hiding in plain sight.

This doesn’t even look like a cemetery… 🌈

Chichicastenango Cemetery is known as the most colorful cemetery in the world, where families gather to repaint graves, celebrate memories, and stay connected with loved ones.

It feels more alive than sad.
More like a gathering than a goodbye.

Honestly one of the most beautiful examples of how culture can completely change the meaning of a space.

What if cemeteries could evolve like cities?

Climate change and cultural shifts are reshaping burial spaces around the world.
Cemeteries are slowly turning into living systems spaces that grow, adapt, and change over time.

The future of cemetery design may be more flexible than we ever imagined.

He was redesigning it using REAL engineering standards.

This short form podcast clip follows David Worsley’s journey from childhood gaming and curiosity to founding his own engineering company.

A story about cities, engineering, creativity, and believing in your path.

🚧 Your Excavation Project Shouldn’t Pollute the City

Excavation doesn’t end when the digging is done.
The way excavated soil is transported can directly affect air quality, public safety, and the environment.

Covered trucks, dust control, smart timing, and proper disposal aren’t “extra steps” — they’re part of responsible construction.

Clean projects build better cities. 🌍

We often think of cemeteries as places only for the dead.

But what if they could become spaces for memory, storytelling, and connection?

In this video, I explore how design can transform cemeteries into living landscapes places where stories are not just remembered, but experienced.

From narrative pathways to memorial elements, the goal is simple:
to create spaces that hold meaning across generations.

Because without physical presence, memory fades.

What do you think should cemeteries be designed as living spaces?

Burial shouldn’t feel like a luxury… but it does.

More and more families are struggling with:
⚠️ High burial costs
⚠️ Cultural & religious limitations
⚠️ Long-term maintenance pressure
⚠️ Environmental damage

Most people think design is about how a place looks.

But the real question is:
How does it make you feel?

In this case study from Denmark, every element is intentional:
• Soft boundaries that create a sense of safety without restriction
• Clear pathways that guide movement without confusion
• Layered planting that feels natural and calming
• A quiet focal point that gently anchors the space

This is what healing through design looks like.

Because great design isn’t just seen.
It’s felt.
