What makes my wife happy?

"A man builds a house. A wife makes it a home."

Last year, I planted sixteen English lavenders (Lavandin, Lavandula × intermedia). To give them the best start, I hauled in several yards of sand and pea gravel and built a raised bed just for them. It was a lot more work than I expected—especially for someone who spends most of his day sitting in front of a computer.

Neither of us expected them to grow this well.

Now in their second year, the lavenders are thriving, filling the garden with color and fragrance. Seeing them flourish has been such a rewarding surprise.

But the best part?

My wife absolutely loves them, and seeing her smile every time she looks at them makes all that hard work worth it.

My wife planted zucchini and squash next to the potatoes.

The zucchini and squash grew so big that they completely took over, and I honestly forgot the potatoes were even there.

While cleaning up the overgrown tops today, I suddenly discovered a bunch of hidden potatoes 🥔

There are many different types of lavender.
Even within English lavender, there are several different varieties.

This one is an English lavender, “Lavandula angustifolia.”
