Happy days in the nursery as we repot our bonsai! 🌱🪴

The buds are swelling, which means it’s repotting time & one of our favourite times of the year.

For us, nothing beats a quality mix of Japanese Hyuga Pumice, Ibaraki Akadama & Fujizuna Lava Rock. Our go-to starting ratio is 1:1:1, although we’ll tweak the mix with a little extra Akadama for some of our thirstier species.

All three substrates are imported directly from Japan 🇯🇵 and selected specifically for bonsai cultivation.

And exciting news… our fresh shipment of Ibaraki Akadama has just arrived! We’re busy getting it screened, weighed and packaged as we speak, ready for all you bonsai enthusiasts. 🌳

Our first shelves are almost complete.

Old Tree Yard’s storage and dispatch space is slowly coming together one shelf, one product and one step at a time.

Soon, these shelves will be stocked with bonsai pots and more essential supplies, ready to serve all you bonsai enthusiasts nationwide.

The first of our range has landed, and our anodised aluminium bonsai wire is officially for sale.

Available in 1mm, 2mm, 3mm and 4mm. The four gauges that handle the vast majority of bonsai wiring, whether you’re setting a delicate branch or anchoring heavier movement. Soft, easy to work and holds its shape.

This is just the beginning of what we’re building at Old Tree Yard.
