Mediterranean design is all about the dialogue between the elements.

​I wanted this space to feel like a hidden alcove carved into a coastal cliffside. Look closely at the textures: deep, oxidized teal walls that mimic a weathered sea cave, grounded by a rugged slab of raw, live-edge timber. And overhead? A burst of crystal light like sun hitting the water.

​It’s moody, tactile, and a sensory escape.

True sophistication is found in the friction between the raw and the refined.

​When I was designing this restaurant, I wanted to play with unexpected combinations. Look closely how I paired raw, organic bamboo ceiling poles and heavy wooden beams with a brilliant, shimmering crystal orb light fixture.

​The way the structured metal and glass crystal rings catch the light creates this incredible, golden glow that completely softens the harder architectural lines above. It proves that when it comes to interior design, magic happens in the contrast.

What a journey this has been for me.
From the very first concept to seeing every detail come together, it has been an absolute privilege to be part of bringing this beautiful restaurant to life.
One of the most rewarding parts of the design process is taking the time to truly understand a client's vision and transforming it into a space that reflects their dreams, personality, and aspirations. This project was no exception.
This was about creating more than just a space; it was about crafting an atmosphere where people can gather, connect, celebrate, and make lasting memories. Every texture, finish, and carefully considered detail was chosen with intention to create a warm and welcoming experience.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this vision a reality. Watching it all come together has been incredibly rewarding.

A very special project close to my heart is opening soon.
So excited to share a couple of sneak peeks behind the scenes of A Casa by Mauro, opening in Melkbosstrand (opening date in June – TBC). It has been such a wonderful opportunity working with an amazing client who has trusted me so deeply throughout this journey and entrusted me with bringing his vision to life.
