Our Second London UK Project

KLA has again been approached to offer architectural advice on the modern conversion of the owner's traditional, typical London terrace house.

The latest project is for a young ex-South African couple wanting to bring more light and openness to their recently purchased terrace house.

I have enjoyed watching many YouTube programs where these terrace homes are very creatively turned into really nice homes with modern interiors and more suitable to contemporary living.

KLA design for a holiday home located on a beautiful dam setting

Our client commissioned us to create a home to lie low in the site setting, and also to experience the setting's beauty by maximising the indoor and outdoor opportunities. We are currently developing the design further in planning and details.

Townhouse project by KLA currently under construction

This is how I believe projects should be properly reviewed.
Unshaded with no trees, furniture, or people, screening what the building should look like.
This is before all the dressing starts.
Take the design and shade it to show depth and mass with some greenery.
If the result is good and to the architect's satisfaction, only then put it in a digital render with all the "ornaments"
Do not hide the unresolved architecture behind "fancy clothing"
Plants die, developers' contracts to new buyers exclude the "pretties", new owners have bad furniture and decor taste and fail to decorate as per the idyllic renders.
If the design is good, it will carry itself with style.

Exciting project which required careful design to remain within the budget and the estate architectural guidelines

Various options were interrogated in detail with Peter creating digital imagery from Kevin's design sketches
