My mother, Frances Stock, was a prolific South African painter. She was born in Edenburg, Orange Free State on 13th February 1921, and died in Somerset West on 28th July 2016. A diplomat's wife and mother of five children, she was a woman of immense talent and artistic energy. While she was never given the recognition she deserved in South Africa for her prodigious body of life's work, her painti

ngs, prints, sculptures and drawings are in many private collections around the world - in New Orleans, San Francisco, New York, Paris, Stockholm, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Pretoria, (amongst others). I am immensely proud to have grown up at the foot of her easel, watching her paint. I hope through this page I can give credit to her as an artist, a mother and a friend.
