Our clients in Claremont wanted a deck, but what they needed was a robust foundation for their new veggie garden 🥕🥬

By listening to how our clients actually wanted to use their space during our ‘on-site briefing’, we swapped the original plan for a Garapa deck for a heavy-duty, treated SA Pine deck 👌

It’s rustic, it’s durable, and we over-engineered it to handle the weight of planters and water tanks without breaking a sweat 💪

“We want something unusual… and we want a waterfall effect.” 💦

That was the brief from ’ client in Muizenberg — and delivered.

Using Garapa battens, we created a seamless “waterfall” effect that flows beautifully over the structure.

The battens were sized just right to keep the access hatch, which is almost invisible, Light enough to open, while still being strong enough to support a person’s weight.

The final detail? Making sure there were no sharp mitred edges, so the client can comfortably scooch onto their new pool pump & heat exchanger cover — which cleverly doubles as a mini daybed. ☀️

Proximity to the ocean 🌊 and a lack of regular maintenance (even a simple clean every two years) had really taken its toll on this beautiful Garapa deck.

We recently returned to service and restore this deck we originally built for our client in Woodbridge Island over 20 years ago 🏡✨

Our client wanted to turn her backyard into a warm, inviting space for relaxing and entertaining. Shade was essential ☀️ — but so was atmosphere and style.

What made this project special? She shared AI-generated inspiration images, giving us a clear visual direction from the start ✨

For this large-scale project, collaborated with and contractors on the new V&A Waterfront development at 5 Dock Road. This prestigious development offers luxury apartment living in the heart of the V&A Waterfront, designed for discerning buyers 👌

The pergolas were crafted from Lunawood, supplied by Universal Plywood and Timbers. Lunawood is thermally modified using natural methods of heat and steam, a process that enhances the wood’s dimensional stability, durability, and sustainability 💪

Privacy screens for each unit were also manufactured from Lunawood, using the Triple Shadow profile to create clean, vertical lines. The award-winning Luna Triple 32×140 is a premium 3D ThermoWood® cladding product made from Nordic spruce, selected for both its architectural impact and long-term performance 🙌

For this large-scale project, collaborated with and contractors on the new V&A Waterfront development at 5 Dock Road. This prestigious development offers luxury apartment living in the heart of the V&A Waterfront, designed for discerning buyers.

The pergolas were crafted from Lunawood, supplied by Universal Plywood and Timbers. Lunawood is thermally modified using natural methods of heat and steam, a process that enhances the wood’s dimensional stability, durability, and sustainability.

Garapa timber was selected for the decking throughout the development. For the pool deck area, also constructed in Garapa, Eco-Cradles supplied by Witon Flooring were installed beneath the raised decking substructure. These act as acoustic barriers between the decking and the building’s brick-and-mortar structure, helping to minimise sound transfer and ensure resident comfort.

Late 2025, 🛠️ completed this simple yet stylish garapa deck as part of a home renovation in the leafy suburb of Newlands 🍃

Leading directly off the living area, the deck adds warmth to the façade and creates an easy, functional space for outdoor entertaining 👌

For our final 🛠️ install of a busy and successful year 🎉, we gave this unsightly rooftop wall a complete glow-up with durable, hardwearing Garapa cladding 💪

The transformation has added warmth and style to the chill area at this student accommodation in Rondebosch - a small change that makes a big difference 👌
