🌊 SEA LOVE | LOVE HER. RESPECT HER. BE INFORMED.

You all know how deeply I love our ocean. She is my playground, my inspiration, my kelp forest prayer room and one of the places where I feel most alive.

And perhaps because I love her so much, I feel strongly that I need to share this.

Please take a few minutes to read the article below about the ongoing rabies outbreak in our Cape fur seal population.

This is not about creating fear of the ocean or fear of our seals. It is about being informed, being aware and taking sensible precautions.

For those of us who swim, surf, snorkel, dive, kayak, walk our beaches or take our dogs along the coastline, this matters.

Our seals are wild animals, and right now some of them are dealing with a very serious disease. Give them space. Don’t approach or touch them, even if a seal appears calm, tired or in need of help. Keep dogs away from seals and make sure their rabies vaccinations are up to date.

And importantly, if you are ever bitten or scratched by a seal, do not wait to see what happens. Wash the wound thoroughly with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention immediately.

We can still LOVE our ocean.
We can still LIVE our ocean.
We can still SHARE our ocean.

We just need to do it with our eyes open.

Sea Love also means Sea Respect. 💙🌊

I met this wonderfully vibrant human, Mel, at her very own Mel’s Kitchen in Cape Town. Many moons ago. We clicked. You know those people where there is just an instant something? Mel was one of those.

Not long afterwards, Mel’s kitchen hosted my six-week It Starts With ME journey. Six Tuesday evenings. Six dinners. Couples gathered around the table, eating, talking, thinking, sharing, laughing and digging a little deeper.

Happy Parents. Happy Children. Responsible Marriage. It Starts With ME.

It was one of those journeys that has stayed tucked away in my memory all these years.

And then… fast-forward…
This weekend, during BLOMME & BUBBLES in Paternoster, guess who came bubbling into my little Studio Sea Love?

MEL! 🥂🌸💙

Still vibrant. Still full of life. Still unmistakably Mel.

And goodness, did she bring that Mel magic to my underwater world! First stepping into Priscilla, Queen of the Ocean, my Caftan dress, and then absolutely Blooming Alive in another.

From connecting at Mel’s Kitchen talking about life, love, relationships and responsibility all those years ago… to standing together again, surrounded by my ocean art on the West Coast.

Different chapter.
Same beautiful human.
Same connection.

Life really does have the loveliest way of bringing some people back around your table… even when, this time, the table happens to be underwater. 😉🌊

GRATITUDE GALORE 🌊🧡

And just like that, BLOMME & BUBBLES comes to an end…

Three beautiful, busy days in Paternoster. So many faces, conversations, laughter, creativity, bubbles, blomme and wonderful people passing through our little Sea Love world.

And then this.

Shoes off.
Feet in the ocean.
The last light slipping into the Atlantic.
The gentle wash of water around my ankles.

Standing there, humbled.

No big celebration needed. Just a few quiet minutes with the ocean, looking back at the day and thinking…

How incredibly blessed am I?

To create.
To share.
To meet people.
To make a living from something born from this very ocean.
And at the end of a wonderfully busy festival weekend, to simply walk down to the water and let her wash the day from my feet.

My body is tired.
My heart is FULL.

Thank you to every single person who popped into our studio, played along with our PEEP SHOW, laughed with us, supported us, bought something, shared a story or simply came to say hello.

And thank You, God, for another day, another sunset, another reminder that amongst all the busyness, this is what really matters.

Feet in the ocean.
Eyes on the horizon.
Heart overflowing.

👀🌸 THE PATERNOSTER PEEP SHOW 🌸👀

Well… THAT escalated quickly. 😂😂😂

Our little Studio Sea Love PEEP SHOW came to life today and, judging by these photos, some of our visitors took their modelling careers very seriously. 🤣

There was peeping.
There was posing.
There was blooming.
There was snapping.
There was a LOT of laughing.
And naturally… there were bubbles. 🥂

From mermaids and bikini babes to flower children, scooter queens and a few characters we’re frankly not quite sure how to explain… Paternoster, you understood the assignment! 😂🌸🌊

This album is just a little taste of the beautiful madness outside our tiny studio today during Blomme & Bubbles.

And THIS is exactly why we created it. Not to be serious. Not to be perfect. Just to stop for a moment, stick your head through a hole, look completely ridiculous and PLAY!

Because grown-ups need to play too. 💙

When the Queen of the Weskus comes to visit the Queen of the Ocean… 👑🌊👑

What happens? A whole lot of colour, laughter, Weskus stories and LOVE, of course. 💙

Today I had such a lekker visit from Anita, the fabulous woman behind IN EN OM WESKUS, and someone who lives, breathes and celebrates our beautiful West Coast.

And can we just have a moment for Anita in her Sea Love ocean dress?! 😍

There is something incredibly special for me about seeing my underwater photography travel from the kelp forests and ocean floor, onto fabric, and then come alive on someone who carries the spirit of the Weskus so beautifully.

And Anita certainly does.

So today, in our tiny, colourful little Paternoster studio, it was officially…
