I have been in the decking industry since 1994 and have seen and heard it all when it comes to different materials, etc. There is only one way to build a deck and this has to be done properly from the beginning - the structure is the most important and must be done according to engineers specifications therefore giving you years of hassle free enjoyment. As for the decking I would recommend using

hardwoods like Balau, Teak, Massarinduba, Garapa as these have all proved themselves in the market over the past years. I still install using the old and tried method by screwing down the deck boards because your decking lines stay straight - the clip system may look neater in the beginning but you will be setting yourself up for major problems in time to come as the grooves break where the clips fasten and boards become loose and lift. When choosing a deck installer, be very careful as most will just tell you what you want to hear !! very few honest decking contractors out there. Don't be pulled into sales pitches and DO YOUR HOMEWORK !! most times proper decking contractors are cheaper than bakkie builders and people off the street.

Please guys, don't be fooled by decking contractors out there - find a reputable contractor for the job as it would cost the same if not cheaper and be done correctly. Best way is to find an old homemakers magazine from 10 - 15yrs ago and call those contractors because if their cell numbers are the same then you can use them as they are not running away from their bad workmanship as chances are that they are the real deal.
Currently on a site in Rivonia where some idiots thought they were deck builders and had no clue as to what they were doing now we have try and save the customer from wasting money and patch, sand and seal to look better.

Solid cca treated pine timber rustic slatted table and bench sets made in all sizes and shapes. Table widths from 900mm - 1165mm.

White wash and black colours cost 10% more and we deliver @ R500 depending on location within Johannesburg / Pretoria areas. Although these sets are suited for outdoors, you will need to maintain the sealer as with any other wooden products.

2 weeks lead time from date of full payment till delivery depending on current work load. Viewing is possible before ordering at my premises in Petit, Benoni area.

These sets are made properly and over engineered for it's intended use, you will not get better at these rates.
