There is something miraculous woven into every green Clivia bloom. Here are a few from my collection.

✨ The opening of an agapanthus feels like a quiet ceremony.
Each bud has its own timing, and the slow unfurling becomes a daily reminder of nature’s sacred rhythm. ✨

It’s always fascinating to see how the same Clivia can express itself differently from year to year. The top photo is from 2020, and the bottom from 2019 — same plant, same genetics, yet the colouration shifted noticeably. Subtle changes in light, temperature, and seasonal conditions can influence pigment intensity and tone, bringing out more intensity or softness in the petals. It’s one of the things I love about growing Clivias — they remind us that even within the familiar, nature never stops experimenting with her palette.

Every Clivia collector knows this pain — a stuck umbel! The flower head stays hidden in the crown instead of rising up tall, and the blooms don’t always show their true colors.

In this short video, I share a couple of tricks that might help: gently pe***ng back the leaves and adding a touch of potassium. It’s all about giving those buds a bit of breathing room. 🌿

Meet Misty, my resident clivia garden inspector. She won’t help w**d, but she WILL occupy any available pot with absolute authority.
