Our calm yet playful office designed for Children of Armenia Fund (COAF)‘s Yerevan office.
The concept of the office space was designed for a young team of professionals united by COAF's aspirations and ideas. Although the space is an open plan, we have achieved to divide the space discreetly into zones by adding unordinary shaped glass structures that work as dividers, whilst using certain spaces to accommodate a medium sized meeting room and singular booths creating small private spaces for one to break away and concentrate on work.
The interior materials and colors of the aforementioned booths are soft, creating a smooth transition between open to closed spaces, the sheer curtains aid in creating privacy yet still make the person inside feel connected with the office surrounds. A second partition element has become the “highlight” of the space, a bright yellow joinery that has a double function; a storage on one side and seating area on the other.
The brief was to have a large meeting room for 10, we accepted this challenge by creating a mezzanine floor within the 4.2m high ceiling. By adding this meeting room on the top level, we created a space on the ground level where we could accommodate an amphitheater, kitchen, storage, toilets, wardrobes and a huge planter box for an earthly, natural feel.
The lighting of the office is mainly indirect and soft, provided by custom-made pendants laid in an ordinary and repetitive pattern. The curved walls and bespoke joinery are designed deliberately to celebrate the timeless interior with a touch of yellow accent, which compliments the raw materials of concrete, travertine, glass, wood and steel found within the surrounds of the COAF office.
