Meet our Speakers!

Sabina Riss is an architect and holds a Ph.D. in architectural studies. She conducts research, publishes, teaches, and consults on socially sustainable planning and a planning culture focused on gender equality. With her talk, “Women architects shape the future – between structural change and personal freedom of action,” she will bring her expertise and perspective to our Kick-off event.

Herwig Spiegl is an architect and co-founder of AllesWirdGut, based in Vienna and Munich. He studied at TU Vienna, McGill University, and the Bartlett, and has shaped the firm’s work in housing, urban strategy, and public buildings since 1999. In his opening talk “Architecture Begins in the Office: Designing Working Conditions Where Career and Care Can Coexist“ he will share his experience of shaping a professional environment that enables a balance between work and private life.

🧱 We made the shortlist for the Erich Mendelsohn Prize 2026!

We’re thrilled to share that our project „Königskinder – Quartier Spinelli BF1“ in Mannheim has been shortlisted for the Erich Mendelsohn Prize 2026 for brick architecture 🏗️

Out of around 500 entries from 41 countries, the international jury selected 99 projects from 18 countries — and we made the cut ✨

Awarded every three years, the prize celebrates outstanding architecture built around brick as a material. Being shortlisted is a wonderful recognition of how much design potential this timeless material still holds.

The award ceremony takes place on September 4 in Berlin — we can’t wait 🥂

Introducing WomenInArchitecture — a new exchange format for women in architecture. Because professional experience should not be shared by chance.

The building industry runs on collaboration. But many questions that shape everyday work in architecture and construction are still often discussed informally: through personal networks, trusted conversations, shared experience — or simply by being in the right conversation at the right time.

💬Who gets to share what they have learned?

These questions shape professional paths — and the way we move through everyday work.

With WomenInArchitecture, we are launching a new exchange format for women in architecture: a several-month one-on-one exchange for women architects in and around Vienna, across offices and on eye level.

It is not classic mentoring.
It is not top-down advice.

It is a space to share experience, ask honest questions and talk about the realities of everyday work in architecture and the building industry: visibility, responsibility, confidence, collaboration, flexibility, care work, development and leadership.

Der Bauherr:innenpreis der .architektinnen würdigt herausragende Bauten, Freiraumgestaltungen sowie städtebauliche Lösungen, bei denen die Auftraggeber:innen in intensiver Zusammenarbeit mit den Architekt:innen außergewöhnliche Lösungen ermöglicht und geschaffen haben.

Die Nominierungsjurys in den einzelnen Bundesländern haben sich heuer für 23 Projekte aus insgesamt 132 Einreichungen entschieden.

Wir freuen uns, mit unserem Holzhybrid Wohnbau ROTE EMMA eines von dreien ausgewählten Projekten in Wien zu sein! Die Gewinner:innen werden am 23. Oktober durch die Hauptjury ermittelt.

Danke an & MIGRA für die gute Zusammenarbeit! Die Kooperation aller im Team beteiligten Projektpartner wurde auf Augenhöhe und mit Respekt für die einzelnen Teilbereiche gestaltet. Am Ende entstand ein gemeinsames und großartiges Projekt, zu dessen Erfolg jeder der Partner beitragen hat.

RED EMMA

The Client Award, presented by the Central Association of Architects .architektinnen, recognises outstanding buildings, outdoor space designs and urban planning solutions in which clients, working closely with architects, have facilitated and created exceptional solutions.

This year, the nomination juries in the individual federal states have selected 23 projects from a total of 132 submissions.

We are delighted that our RED EMMA timber-hybrid residential building is one of three projects selected in Vienna! The winners will be chosen by the main jury on 23 October.

Thank you & MIGRA! The collaboration between all the project partners involved was based on a spirit of equality and the necessary respect for each individual area of expertise. The result was a fantastic joint project, to the success of which every partner contributed.

🚶The way is the goal, they say. And we’re right in the thick of it!

👷‍♀️With the topping-out ceremony marking the completion of the structural work in Phase 1, our “Go Four It” Business Quarter in northern Munich is reaching its next milestone these days—the excavation for Phase 2 is currently being prepared.

Later, a central axis will connect what was previously separated: running between Hanauer Straße and Ehrenbreitsteiner Straße, it will serve as a vibrant link through all four buildings, creating diverse, high-quality open spaces. Retail, dining, and social amenities will then shape the atmosphere, uniting work, life, and creativity into a micro-city with a strong urban character.

Mannheim is evolving! The Hitachi Columbus Campus embodies this transformation—from a historic industrial center to a smart, climate-neutral hub for innovation.

🌳 With its transparent appearance, the office complex for stands for a sustainable corporate attitude—and also demonstrates that resource-saving construction, climate-neutral operation, and contemporary aesthetic need not at all be conflicting interests. Built entirely in timber and largely using prefabricated elements, the campus sets new standards with CO2-neutral operations, solar chimneys for natural ventilation, and innovative PV shading elements integrated into the facade and sun protection system.

While Building A is already ready for occupancy, the timber structure of Building B is currently rising skyward—making this the perfect moment to experience the project up close during an on-site construction tour.

Timber construction on the home stretch. 🪵 Hitachi Columbus Campus | Mannheim (DE)

With its transparent appearance, the all-timber office complex demonstrates that resource-saving construction, climate-neutral operation, and contemporary aesthetic need not at all be conflicting interests.

The goal of the Hitachi Columbus Campus is climate-neutral building operation. It means that there is as much energy produced as is needed. The photovoltaic system generates electricity which can be used immediately or stored. The ventilation system is based on solar chimneys, a technology that has been proven in warm countries for centuries!

Choosing a purely timber structure made from prefabricated elements required innovative solutions that meet current standards for structural timber construction.
