Jazz'd Up Designs Sustainable & Edible Gardens Let Jazz’d Up Designs make your ideas a reality.

While we aim to create beautiful, unique, personalised environments, we also urge for functional and sustainable areas that provide a perfect place to include a learning and nourishing experience for all. There has been a shift in trend and Australians are now highly valuing the natural beauty of the landscape, along with spaces that are promoting a greater quality of life.

A before and after of a job we completed in Warranwood.
A tidy up and mulch in preparation for sale that looked so good, we've also been asked to redesign and landscape their new property too.

We harvested some sweet potatoes today, they'd significantly pushed up the ground around them. I like to carefully harvest the larger ones, leaving the smaller ones there.
This obviously allows them to grow bigger, and when the frost kills off the leaves, the plant has a reserve and will start sprouting again when the weather warms back up.
Less effort, happier plant, larger harvest = happier gardeners :)

Also remember you can eat your sweet potato leaves, lightly cooked. It's a fantastic producer of greens, fast growing and extremely reliable.

We planted this Wampee (Clausena lansium) in Ringwood many years ago as part of an edible garden, utilising many evergreen fruiting trees, many of which aren't commonly grown in Victoria.
I made the fantastic discovery today of it's first fruit.
Gladly shared with the garden owner, we were pleasantly surprised at its flavour.

Nothing quite matches the mixed feelings when you pull up some garlic to finally find you got the recipe right!
Unfortunately we missed the harvest time for these garlic, so now they have started to sprout, we've lifted them to gently separate and replant.
A mixture of many years of small bulbs and some good advice from a local garlic farmer has helped to create these beauties.
Tips in comments.

We saw this beauty in Croydon North last week, a native Dainty Swallowtail butterfly (Papilio anactus), also known as a small citrus butterfly.
This one was likely a male, as they fly lazily around the tree they've chosen as their territory. He'd chosen a fairly large lemon tree.

It's caterpillars are black with yellow spots, and tiny pinprick white dots, with spikes.
Their caterpillars eat the leaves of native and introduced citrus trees, and the butterflies feed on nectar from flowers.

Enjoying walking around one of the gardens we planted almost a decade ago now. The Egyptian walking onions bulbs are growing much larger than they used to, the Pepino Melons have been loving the extra watering, and the carrots, which are in too hard ground to be good to eat, are left to flower, attract beneficial insects and bring a smile as you wander down the back.

We've been working very hard on a front garden redesign, into a modern mass planted, hardy area. We've added in a lot of erosion control plants, with many natives and a few real standout pieces.
Lots more to go, but with summer coming we thought it'd be best to start the planting asap. Stay tuned for more photos..
