Attaboy 🥺 Daniel Giles

🔵🔴 50 Games 🔴🔵

Hope Valley would like to congratulate Daniel Giles on reaching his 50th Senior game for HVCC this weekend.

Daniel or Gilo is one of the most dedicated people to our club & his list of jobs off field is extensive. Gilo & his business, SA Horticulture (who is a generous sponsor) are our current curators, he is on the committee, dabbling in almost all roles & Gilo is more than happy to provide advice to everyone. He also has a wealth of knowledge surrounding opposition teams (some people may use the word nuffie!)

Gilo's past coach Jarrad Sykes says:
"About a decade ago, Daniel hit me to all parts at Walkerville Oval in a final that HV lost too comfortably. As he walked off, we had a chat that I recall as our first official ‘conversation’. Since then, I have been fortunate to work very closely with Daniel and learn why he is so highly regarded by his team mates. In just 50 games, Daniel has significantly impacted HVCC, driving success on & off the field for juniors, seniors, & our non-playing community.
His ‘get it done’ attitude is exemplary. As a coach, mentor, teammate, & club steward, Daniel has raised standards & expectations. He knows what successful teams look like, going above & beyond to unite the playing group which culminated in the underdog A2 premiership of 2021/22 & T20 ATCA & SAMCA flags in the same year.
On the field, Daniel is admired for his reliability & determination with the bat and despite his little hands, is an excellent fieldsman. His spectacular one-handed slips catch at Rostrevor College still plays like a video in my head. He’s one of the great teammates & would be first picked by anyone who has played with him. It’s hard to believe he’s achieved so much in just 50 games but he’s the guy you want to call your team mate, which is perhaps the greatest legacy anyone could have. Good luck for your 50th Daniel, go well now and beyond!"

On top of this, Gilo also captained to B2s to a premiership in 2022/23 & at the end of last season, Gilo's stats sit at 1073 runs @ 24.39 - this since joining the club in 2020.

Well done on this achievement Gilo. HVCC appreciates the endless work you do and the dedication to this club.
