Please be careful when calling a locksmith as there is a scam going around the country. These scam artists quote low, charge high, damage property and threaten you if you don’t pay.

These people are usually European and middle eastern backpackers.

When calling a locksmith get a referral from a trusted friend or family member.

Top 3 Myths of business access control systems
Access control

Business access control systems govern who or what can access resources in a computing environment. It is divided into two categories: physical and logical. Physical access control limits entry to campuses, buildings, rooms, and physical IT assets, while logical access control restricts connections to computer networks, system files, and data.

Organizations use commercial security access control systems to secure their facilities. These systems rely on user credentials, access card readers, auditing, and reports to track employee access to restricted areas and locations, such as data centres. Commercial access controls can also include access control panels to limit entry to rooms and buildings, as well as alarms and lockdown capabilities to prevent unauthorized access or operations.

Access control systems are a critical component of security compliance programs that ensure that security technology and access control policies are in place to protect sensitive information, such as customer data. However, business access control systems can be complex and challenging to manage in dynamic IT environments that include on-premises systems and cloud services.

After high-profile breaches, technology vendors have shifted away from single sign-on systems to unified access management, which offers access controls for on-premises and cloud environments. Logical access control systems evaluate required login credentials, such as passwords, personal identification numbers, biometric scans, security tokens, or other authentication factors, to perform identification authentication and authorization of users and entities. Multifactor authentication (MFA), which requires two or more authentication factors, is often an essential part of a layered defense to protect access control systems.

Myth 1: It's not worth upgrading existing systems
There is a common myth that it's not worth upgrading existing access control systems. This myth is based on the belief that the current system is already doing the job it was designed to do. However, upgrading your access control entry system is important for several reasons. Firstly, it can offer improved security, increased functionality, and cost savings. For example, apartment building access control systems feature automatic detection of suspicious activity and can quickly alert appropriate staff members by phone or other methods, such as security guards, if an anomaly is detected. Secondly, legacy systems can be less secure and become expensive to maintain over time. Old systems may also require specific skills and technology to keep running effectively. Lastly, commercial building access control systems nowadays have evolved to offer mobile access control, automatic detection of suspicious activity, multi-factor authentication, and cloud-based access control systems.

Myth 2: Access control systems are only for large installations
Another myth surrounding business access control systems is that they are only for large installations. This myth is based on the belief that small organizations do not need advanced security features or that access control systems are too expensive for smaller installations. However, access control systems can be tailored to meet the specific needs of businesses of all sizes. There are several access control systems available on the market today that are designed for small businesses, schools, residential properties, and other smaller installations.

Myth 3: Access control systems can't be integrated with other security systems
A third myth surrounding business access control systems is that they can't be integrated with other security systems. However, modern access control systems can be integrated with other security systems, including video surveillance, intrusion detection, and fire alarm systems. This integration allows organizations to create a unified security platform that provides complete control over all aspects of security.
