We’re excited to share that some of our Cold Logic fellows will be participating in Operation Flinders City to Summit 2024! On Friday, September 27th, they’ll take on a 21km walk from Adelaide CBD to Mt Lofty Summit and beyond to support the incredible work of the Operation Flinders Foundation

Operation Flinders profoundly impacts young lives through transformative remote outback adventure programs.

Shane Docking, our Contracts Supervisor, is a testament to this impact. Reflecting on his 2007 experience, Shane shared:

“In 2007, when I was in Year 9, I was heading down the wrong path—skipping classes and causing trouble at school. Thankfully, my teachers saw potential in me and nominated me for the Operation Flinders program. This 8-day adventure through the Flinders Ranges was challenging but transformative. We trekked about 17 kilometers a day, abseiled, and cooked traditional indigenous meals, all while sharing stories around the campfire.

The experience was tough but eye-opening. It helped me turn my life around, moving away from the wrong crowd and connecting with a group of sports-loving friends who are still a big part of my life. Looking back, Operation Flinders was a turning point for me. I believe programs like Operation Flinders City to Summit can offer similar life-changing opportunities to kids today.” – Shane

NEWS: In case you missed our news, we are delighted to be awarded the contract to partner with UK company Ernest West & Beynon (EWB) to construct and install cold and cool rooms for the first batch of three Hunter class frigates.

Cold Logic’s commitment to the Australian defence sector and sovereign capability has been evident since the establishment of our dedicated defence division in 2017 following successful projects to upgrade and sustain the Collins Class Submarine Platform’s provision refrigeration systems.

With the award of the Hunter Class Frigate Program to BAE Systems Australia, we sought out EWB to establish a partnership that would bring the existing and reliable provision refrigeration system onboard the UK Type 26 frigate to Australia without re-inventing the wheel and saving significant expenditure on the package.

Through early involvement in the project and partnership, Cold Logic and BAE Systems Australia are able to leverage the skills and expertise that already exist in Australia and are able to make use of our sovereign supply chain.

It was fantastic to host Natalie Suleyman MP and Josh Bull MP for Sunbury at our Cold Logic Victorian site recently.

We enjoyed sharing detail on Cold Logic and the important work of the industrial and commercial refrigeration industry. Plus importantly, the trade and development pathways opportunities our business and industry continues to offer.

The visit included meeting directors, apprentices and team members who have been with Cold Logic for over 30 years, providing the chance for our team to share their career progression stories.

We’d like to thank our visitors for taking the time to visit our site and meet our team. We are excited by the continued growth of our team and the business, and the support that the Victorian State Government can make for our industry.

What a great day! The contract has been signed and is underway!
Cold Logic’s founder and director Jeff Cannan and our manager for defence business Dr Michael Riese had the opportunity to meet with the Deputy Premier of South Australia, the honourable Susan Close and BAE SMA managing director Craig Lockhart at the expo to day to make the announcement!

Our Managing Director, Eddie Lane was privileged to attend the recent Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) 150th anniversary at the Melbourne Town Hall.
It was a fantastic event which celebrated the success of the Ai Group and which signified the importance of business and industry to the Australian economy.

At Cold logic we are committed to manufacturing, engineering and trade skills. Eddie served on the Ai Victorian Council for 6 years and Cold Logic sees great value in the membership and support it receives in all aspects of business.
Congratulations Ai Group on your 150th anniversary and a fantastic event.

Congratulations to Daniel, Brendon and Glenn from the Cold Logic team for completing their Mycom training. It was a fantastic experience to learn from Mycom experts, with the opportunity to also experience Japanese culture and visit some fantastic Tokyo sites too.

Their trainers had 35 and 30 years respectively at Mycom and were a wealth of knowledge on screw and recip compressors. They were also fortunate to have presentations from Mycom engineers of screw compressors and the new semi-hermetic Newton units. These units are an Ammonia/co2 package cascade system.

At the end of the week our Cold Logic team members were presented with certificates for completing the training and gifts were exchanged as per Japanese customs.

Thank you to the Mycom team for hosting a fantastic week.

We love being industry leaders and supporting our team to ensure they thrive in their roles and we maintain this enviable position.

It was fantastic to be a part of Hort Connections last week. It was their largest fresh produce and trade show ever, with over 3000 delegates, 900 growers and we were among the 200 exhibitors.
It was great to share our insights into the future of industrial refrigeration and its impact on the produce sector.

We loved meeting with both current customers, connecting with new and witnessing the latest industry developments.

Well done to the Hort Connections team for a fantastic event.

We're excited to share the news that Cold Logic's Dr Michael Riese, M.AIRAH, has officially joined AIRAH’s national board.
AIRAH President Paul Jackson, F.AIRAH, says it is important for an organisation’s national board to regularly add new voices, talents and perspectives, which the inclusion of Riese brings.
