I have been asked how to grow chokos😋
To me, they grow readily on their own.
I find them sprouting on my bench or on many occasions they sprout whilst they are still attached to the vine!!!
Maturity, warmth and humidity is the key. All things we have in abundance here in QLD.
Once they have sprouted, plant in compost rich, well draining soil with the sprouted end uncovered. Water deeply twice a week.
They are one of the easiest vegetables to grow and contain dietary fiber, Vitamin C, folate, and antioxidants. It is virtually fat-free and contains no cholesterol.
Ditch the 70s steamed with butter and try them stir fried, baked, grated in salads or when young straight from the vine and eat like an apple.
They take on the flavour of what you add them to. One apple plus 5 chokos to make an apple pie and you'd swear it was all apple.
Give chokos a go, they are my favourite winter veg❤️
