SECURITY ALERT: INVOICE FRAUD WARNING
🚨 Important Notice for Our Clients 🚨
We’ve been made aware of recent incidents where legitimate invoices sent by our company were intercepted after delivery, altered, and resent from spoofed email addresses. These invoices may well be expected by the client but have had altered or inserted fraudulent bank details upon the attached scanned copy of the invoices.
These scams are targeting clients whose email mailbox accounts have most likely been prior compromised and are being monitored for incoming invoices.
If the scammers have access to your account, then they can remove notification of the legitimate email receival and using a similar fraudulently created email account to resend an altered invoice. The altered invoices will appear genuine but have been manipulated using digital image editing or physical alteration and re-scanning.
âť— What to Watch For:
• Scammers require access to your mailbox first. Beware of emails requesting you to update your mailbox settings or renew your passwords. These phishing emails may contain links to seemingly legitimate websites. Beware of malware or keylogger viruses that may have been installed on your systems. Phishing emails might even offer Virus Scanners updates which may well install these malwares or viruses.
• Check the sender’s email address carefully from received emails. Spoofed emails may look similar to ours or legitimate senders but often have subtle differences (e.g., extra characters or misspelled domains).
• Inspect the email headers to verify the true sending domain. In most email clients, you can do this by selecting “View Original” or “Show Message Source.” Look for the “Return-Path” or “Received from” fields to confirm the email came from our legitimate domain.
• Compare bank details on the invoice with those from previous verified communications.
âś… How to Stay Safe:
Use strong passwords and enable multi-factor authentication on your email accounts.
Be cautious of emails requesting urgent payments or announce changes to bank details.
If in doubt, call us directly using a known phone number to confirm payment instructions.
❤️‍🩹What we are doing.
We are stepping away from a domestic mail service and incorporating our own domain service (.com.au). Our old emails address will be, or have been decommission from service. (These emails were listed as from .com.au)
Our invoicing will be changing from physical copies and disabling sending attached scanned copies to favour electronic invoicing with the usage of secure links. In addition, we will soon be incorporating secure customer portals for online payments and banking transfers.
We are actively working to support affected clients and improve security across our communications. Thank you for your continued trust.
