International Women’s Day is a moment to pause and recognise the incredible women who shape DesignInc, and the future of our industry.

As Managing Director of DesignInc Brisbane, and the current National Chair of the DesignInc group, I’m genuinely privileged to work alongside so many remarkable women. On Friday, I had the opportunity to spend time with our national leadership group, and it was inspiring to see the strength, clarity and creativity our female directors bring to every studio across the country. Their leadership and stewardship elevate our teams and the architecture we create together.

To all of our emerging female architects, designers and leaders - we see you, we believe in you, and we celebrate your achievements every single day. Your talent is shaping what comes next, and we’re proud to be part of your journey.

Last month, our team marked World Architecture Day the only way we know how - by celebrating the people, the passion, and the purpose behind the spaces we shape… and by building a few very questionable structures out of raw spaghetti and marshmallows.

Architecture isn’t just about buildings. It’s about connection, creativity, and community, and remembering that great ideas often start small (and sometimes sticky).

At DesignInc, we’re proud to be part of an industry designing for people first, balancing creativity with responsibility to shape a more sustainable, human-centred future.

One of the things Australian architecture does especially well is embrace the outdoors.

We’re fortunate to have a climate that invites open-air living, and our designs respond in kind. Generous windows, deep overhangs, and spaces that blur the line between inside and out aren’t just aesthetic choices… they’re a way of life.

It’s in the light, the shadows, the breeze-through moments. It’s in how we connect people to place, and buildings to their environment.

Where big ideas find their space.

For Brisbane based software company .apps, their new CBD headquarters had to do more than look good. It needed to embody their innovative, collaborative spirit.

Working within a tight budget, we transformed their creative vision into a bright, open workspace that balances bold design with everyday function. The open-plan layout flows between zones for focus, collaboration, and relaxation, with breakout areas, game zones, and creative nooks to spark energy and innovation.

Ergonomic solutions from height-adjustable desks to dual-screen setups support wellbeing and productivity, while a bold black palette, vibrant accents, and custom murals reflect the company ethos: “Thanks for taking me To The Moon.” 🌒

And this is the result! A workplace that fuels connection, creativity, and culture that’s designed to grow alongside the big ideas it inspires.
