Next weekend, I am again raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust, taking part in the UK Charity Allstars Weekend Ice Hockey Tournament. This is being held at the Ice Arena Wales, Cardiff, where i am once again playing for Team Barbarians.
I have chosen Teenage Cancer Trust because during the last few years, with Covid and its continuing repercussions, teenagers and young adults have lost out most. To have to endure cancer on top of everything else is unimaginable and so they deserve all the help we can give.
As well as playing in the ice hockey tournament, last year I undertook a physical challenge to do the splits. This year I had hoped to be making a Guinness Book of Records World Record attempt of the furthest distance to push a lawn mower in 24 hours, but logistical issues and costs around securing a venue for this proved too big for this year, so I am doubling down for next year. I have two more years to achieve this before I turn 60, when I will have to consider if it is time to hang up my skates.
So far I have raised over £1,500 towards my target of £2,000, which is fantastic.
If you would like to donate for this year, you can do so by using the following link which will take you to my just giving page. So many people do so much to raise money for some truly inspirational causes, and this year will see the event pass one million pounds raised for the combined causes.
