We have just spent the past three months travelling around Europe gaining inspiration for some new projects we have coming up, looking forward to getting back and diving back into these projects. One thing we’ve gleaned from our time is how important it is for classic and simple design. No need for fast moving trends or colours, just practical simplicity. Drawing from our inspiration you will see some designs inspired by nature from us in the coming months.

This home is the perfect example of what has been on trend for 2023, as you can see by some of our more recent posts, for 2024 we are seeing this taken to a deeper level, where we have had so much white, we are now seeing deeper tans and additional colours. You will still see a neutral and textural base, but the addition of more timber and some more earthy colours - this is where we are going for 2024.

ARTWORK FOCUS | Creating a focal point
This artwork is everything and in this space it is what is pulling you in and this is how artwork can be so power full to a space. Having an oversized artwork with bold colours can really help take a space to the next level and create a memorable space for your guests. Pulling these colours out and down into the cushions on the lounge, however keeping everything else plain and calm creates a perfectly styled space that stands the test of time for all the trends.

VIGNETTE | The key to styling
I'm sure you've heard of vignette's, it's a very common design trick that was over used a few years ago, however I feel because it was so over used we have all pushed it away.. ..it's now time to bring it back a little, choose a handful of spots and spaces in your home like the buffet, the bookcase, the coffee table etc and create these little artistic spaces of grouped objects, this will help take your home to the next level.

BARBIE PINK | Pops of colour
We all love Barbie and can't deny it's the movie of the year, with all this pink why not add a touch of pink to your space, especially as we head into those warmer months. This space is the perfect summer spot, with the greet, pink beige and stripe all working so perfectly together. How? You ask - it's all about keeping the same strength of colour, you can mix and match colour with a neutral background or base and add multiple colours on top, keeping them at the same strength. See how the red, pink and green are all strong and pop our against the beige, white and timber base.

Let's flip design on its head. We so often forget all about the roof and just slap white paint up there and it's done. While this can be an easy and acceptable solution, we want to encourage you to think outside the box and look at the option and the idea of a timber or slat roof, adding this level of texture can add another demotion into a space and can take your home to a high architectural level.

Where we will see VJ stay is in this classic look, the crisp white wall, paired with the brass, timber door and dramatic black is a look that is here to stay and we absolutely love.

Move over VJ - timber is coming through... the VJ trend, although we feel will always be loved here in Australia - we are seeing a move towards taking it to the next level, this stunning timber bedhead is a perfect example of what we are seeing coming through, these layers create a wonderful mood and add interest to the space without over doing it with colour. What's your thoughts? Do you like where this tread is headed?

TIMBER | Design Trend
Looking at what is coming through in design in 2024 and timber is something that is not going anywhere, we are seeing really warm tones coming through, still seeing lots of texture and marble and bold luxury coming through in the coming months.
