Based on an interview with you I will prepare a mood board, a detailed plan with price specifications, and a digital simulation of your space if required. After that, it will be up to you to implement the ideas yourself or let me do it all for you. I can help with renovations also, in the most economical way possible. I understand how to get the most of each dollar spent and where to invest it, which is crucial when you want to increase the value of your house if you decide to sell or rent it out. According to this article, there is not much we can do to escape the hazardous effects of a bushfire smoke, due to the fact that most Australian houses are not insulated well enough. So unless we start building properly, invest in quality doors, windows, craftsmanship AND independent quality control, we may as well get used to this 😷

It turns out that properly built, well insulated timber wall contains 11 (eleven!) layers. This is how both residential and commercial buildings are built here in Denmark. The benefits are incredible, but for some reason (think quick profit / seeming savings) not many builders nor home owners in Australia appreciate them (or choose to ignore them, or simply are not aware). Many justify using thin, cheap, cardboard-like walls with a warm weather.
But the truth is we still need to use heaters in winter or A/C units in summer. The problem begins when the air we pump so much money into in order to feel comfortable, escapes through the gaps and thin walls, within a few minutes after the device is turned off! Our electricity bills reflect that big time. It affects the environment too.
Properly constructed, insulated walls simply don't let it happen. The Danes revolutionised their building industry in the 70s, after a huge oil crisis. Now, I'm in my apartment, enjoying a comfortable 22 deg even though it's only 3 degrees outside. Our heater was on for a couple of hours but now it's off, the temperature will stay above 20 deg until tomorrow morning (as opposed to our house in Sydney where we often wake up to 14 degrees or less - inside - I'm sure many of you can relate).
The same principle applies when the situation is reversed and we need to cool it down, and keep it cool, obviously.
Perhaps it's time we follow the Danes' lead :)
