It was such an honour to have been commissioned to paint this picture for a client/ friend of mine. ( Xmas present for his wife) Taking roughly 21/2 months to complete, it now hangs proudly in their home. .

The responce to my latest painting was overwhelming. Thank you all. To answer a few of questions I received about the process of painting in oils. Firstly the lion painting took me roughly 4 weeks to paint. Achieving the final result as with any oil painting requires a step by step process that allows the painting to gradually build up. Think of it as painting your house. Preparation Priming. Undercoat. Finish coat. A typical artists approch is 1/ Preparing/ Priming the canvis. 2/ Drawing - Composition.3/ Roughly blocking in your picture and adding dark tones and highlights. 4/Adding layer by layer of desired colours (values) Many times having to let the paint dry before adding more layers. And of course you are making constant changes and correcting mistakes as you go along. 5/ Finally detail. And lets not forget the varnishing to preserve the painting. A lot involved and sometimes a lot of frustration but the final outcome is so rewarding. Last thing I'll say you never stop learning. Techniques. The use of mediums Colour mixing etc etc.

A painting I did some while ago for someone special

Thought I'd create a new page "Jacky Blacky Art" for those that are interested in viewing my works. 2020 has given me the opportunity to go back to my early passion - painting and I will be submitting many more works of art as time goes by. My intention was to paint for pleasure - kill some time but I have received a lot of interest from people wishing to purchase.These four paintings have been sold but with so many requests for prints I will be getting this in motion soon. Each painting will be limited to 50 prints only and will be processed with state of the art technology - with quality in mind. Each print will also signed dated and numbered. Apart from that I just hope you enjoy what I paint
