If you've recently bought a candle from me and noticed it's tunnelling — burning down the middle and leaving wax around the edges — I want you to know I've seen it too, and I owe you an explanation.
Here's what happened. My timber wicks come from a trusted supplier, and a recent batch came through thinner than the ones I've used for years. Same wick, same name on the box — but a finer wick burns slower and cooler, and paired with my 100% soy and coconut blend (which already burns low and clean by design), it hasn't been throwing a wide enough melt pool. The result is tunnelling. That's on the materials, and it's on me for not catching it sooner. I'm so sorry.
The good news is it's often fixable, and I've made you a little guide (above) on how to coax your candle back to a full, even burn — extend that first burn to 2–4 hours so the melt pool reaches the edges, and use a gentle foil collar if the tunnel is deep.
But here's my promise: if you've tried and your candle still won't burn the way it should, I will refund or replace it. No fuss, no proof required beyond your word. Just message me. You burn my products in your home, near your family — getting this right matters more to me than any single sale.
I'm already working with my supplier on the wick sizing so this doesn't happen again. Thank you for trusting me with a little corner of your home. I don't take it lightly.

Most people have no idea why their candle tunnels — and it's not their fault. Nobody explains it.
Tunnelling happens when the wax around the wick melts before the surface layer does. A small pool forms in the middle, the wick drowns in it, and the outer wax never melts at all. You've essentially wasted most of your candle.
The fix? Your very first burn is the most important one. Let the candle burn until the entire top layer has melted — edge to edge. That's called the memory burn, and it sets the wax's habit for every burn after it.
This is the kind of thing I teach at my Candle Making Workshop. Practical knowledge that makes a real difference to the candle sitting on your bench right now.
