Although clay soils can hold water and nutrients, these conditions often prove challenging for plant growth. The application of Gypsum offers temporary relief at best and requires significant organic matter supplementation for sustained effectiveness. Given the diversity of plant preferences, thorough research is essential to ensure plant compatibility with your soil. For those looking to plant immediately in heavy clay, utilizing raised beds or pots may prove the most effective strategy, especially for certain plant varieties. A preliminary soil test will provide valuable insights into your soil composition and inform your planting decisions, a process I will detail further in subsequent posts

As the winter solstice approaches, have you been feeling an insatiable desire to retreat, to stay indoors, and avoid social interactions? To stay warm in bed and sleep longer? With the shortest day of the year and limited sunlight, it is perfectly reasonable to do so. Heed the body's call and follow nature's rhythm. Take advantage of the serene atmosphere, warm comfort foods, and early nights, for the busy season will arrive before long. But don’t stop gardening - a little time outdoors each day gives more than it asks 🙏

We might not have ALL the plants but we have loads of plants and good ones at that! You won’t find many of my plants at Bunnings !!!! I love that for me. From Natives to fruits to ornamentals. I pride myself on having plants that support wildlife and humans- purposeful plants! And I’m a damn good horticulturist!!! Quality advice provided for every visit. Open saturdays 9-1 at this stage
