Wanting a security door, but confused as to why your quotes vary in price?

Well, there is a significant difference between a security door and a barrier, or safety door, and there are a number of key factors to consider when buying security doors to protect your family and home.

For a security door to be promoted or sold as a security door, it must conform to, and meet the Australian Standard AS 5039, and have passed the Australian Standard AS 5041 - Methods of Test.

A 3-point lock is standard, (not an add-on), and is likely to prevent the bottom or top corner of the door being wrenched open by an intruder. Key locks should have a 5-pin cylinder, or equivalent.

Your security door should have a compliance label, to ensure it has been manufactured to the Australian Standard AS 5039.

And your security door should be installed by a professional.

Yes, a security door may cost a little more than a barrier door, but when you choose an NSSA Member to supply and install your home security screening, you are paying for a compliant product, manufactured and tested to Australian Standards and installed by someone who is trained and professional.

So, when looking for real security, look for a member of the NSSA.

A recent job we have been working on at Belrose for Lend Lease, required screens to all windows to meet both BAL29 and BAL40 bushfire specifiations. Each block had multiple bays of louvres that needed screens fitted to comply with council bush fire regulations.
