It's been almost 4 1/2 years since we started the revitalisation. Completed just as Covid hit we have had to change plans like many. It's with some sadness that I'm putting my large baby on the market.
She's too beautiful to sit idle though.

It's been a while since we posted anything.
Earlier this year we won the top gong for heritage architecture at t. Victorian award, the John James George Award. We were then short listed for the national awards winning the Lachlan Maquarie award.
Thanks again to all

Nice article in the Sydney morning herald a few months after we won the John George James award for heritage architecture. It is is the top gong at the Victorian chapter of the Australian institute of architects awards for heritage architecture.
It's an absolute credit to Brett and the team, such a complex and uncertain project made that little bit easier. Looking forward to a good old fashioned cut out to all our trades when we can

Locally known as the Beehive Building since it was built in the 1850’s during the gold rush, planning is now in full swing for this building to be respectfully restored to its former glory.
Experienced heritage architects, Williams Boag, have been commissioned to work under the direction of Heritage Victoria and the City of Greater Bendigo to create a design which would make best use of the ground and first floor spaces. Also giving consideration to a renovation that took place in the 1930’s, great emphasis has been given to the importance of retaining period features including:
Reinstatement of the void area
Opening up of the ground floor to see again the beautiful columns and arches
Keeping the 1930’s shop fronts
Fixing the lead lighting
Fixing the larger spaces on the first floor to make them useable again
Fixing the assay offices to make them useable again
Retaining the existing stairs
Retaining the terrazzo floor and its use as an access to Hargreaves Mall from Pall Mall
To date, over $100,000 has been spent on:
Heritage Victoria approval
Fire Services Engineering
Mechanical, structural and electrical engineering solutions
A detailed plan for removal of non heritage items
Thus ensuring that all the necessary planning has taken place before more physical work can progress.
The design would see the ground floor hosting two shops fronts with an open plan area behind them. The first floor is to be used as a function & small events area that is linked to the ground floor to again encourage people to use that space.
