Hey Brisbane!
Most garage doors should hold up against strong winds, but no one knows exactly how powerful they’ll be. It’s best to make sure the garage is as secure as possible—then give Brendon a call for the cleanup!
How to Secure Your Garage Before a Cyclone:
1. Lock It Up – Make sure your garage door is properly locked so the wind can’t force it open.
2. Add Extra Support – If you don’t have a reinforced door, you can install temporary metal braces to help keep it in place.
3. Use Sandbags – Placing sandbags at the base of the door can help stop it from shifting and keep water out.
4. Board It Up – Adding thick plywood to the inside of the door can give it extra strength against strong winds.
5. Check for Gaps – Make sure there are no openings where wind could get in and build up pressure inside.
Extra Tips:
• If your garage is connected to your house, double-check that the internal door is strong and securely shut.
• Park your car inside, but don’t push it up against the door—if the door gives way, it could damage your vehicle.
• Once the storm passes, inspect the garage door before using the automatic opener to make sure it’s still safe.
These steps can help protect your garage and home during the cyclone. Brendon’s ready to help with the cleanup afterward, so that’s one less thing to worry about! Stay safe, and let me know if you need anything else.
