🌱 CLARE SUSTAINABILITY FESTIVAL 🌱

📍 Ennis Park, Clare
🕘 Tomorrow | 9:00am – 3:00pm

Teesha will be there with a trailer full of quality native plants ready for their new homes. 🌿

After the recent rain, conditions for planting are about as good as they get. The ground is soft, the soil is moist, and digging holes is suddenly a lot easier than trying to chip your way through concrete masquerading as dirt! 🤪

There’ll also be plenty of other stalls, activities and workshops happening throughout the day, so come along, say hello, and make the most of these fantastic planting conditions.

See you there! 🌱

Any time I hear the distant sound of a chainsaw in the area, I usually go for a sticky beak to see what’s being sent to the great woodchip pile in the sky 🤪.

Today I got lucky 🍀.

A yard was being cleaned up and a tree had to come down. As it turns out, it was a tree we sold around 15 years ago to the people who lived there at the time.

A beautiful Eucalyptus gillii (Curly Mallee), absolutely loaded with mature seed capsules just waiting to be collected. The contractors were more than happy for me to take as much as I wanted, so naturally I took the lot. Woohoo! 🙌

Now comes the fun part — cutting it into smaller pieces, letting it dry out, and waiting for all that precious seed to drop. 😁

🌱🌳🍀

🌿 Heading to the Adelaide Showground Farmers Market this morning?

You’ll find Teesha there until 12:30pm with a great selection of Australian native plants. As she won’t be attending over the June Long Weekend, today is the perfect opportunity to come and say g’day, have a chat, and take a few natives home with you. 🌱😁

Hope to see you there!

Don’t get to walk around the garden anywhere near as much as I’d like — seem to be permanently stuck in the shed planting 🤪

But how’s this for a surprise 🌱
Found 3 Sturt’s Desert Peas that had magically popped up on their own around the property.

Every year I throw seed around and when conditions are right… boom, Desert Peas everywhere 😁 (yes yes, more magic 🪄 talk)

The biggest one was hidden in marshmallow weeds too, so lucky I hadn’t sprayed.

We call this the “Cottees effect”… from little things, big things grow 🌱😁😊

🌿 Eucalyptus torquata — Coral Gum 🌿

If you’re chasing a gum tree that really puts on a show, Coral Gum is hard to go past. Originally from the WA goldfields, this highly ornamental small tree produces stunning deep pink to coral-red flowers that absolutely light up the garden from late winter through spring. 🐝🐦

Growing to around 8–12 metres tall, it features attractive rough dark bark on the trunk, smooth upper branches and lovely grey-green foliage. It’s hardy, drought tolerant once established, and handles a wide range of soils from loams through to clays — pretty much the sort of tree that says “I’ll be right” once settled in. 😄

A fantastic feature tree for larger gardens, rural blocks, shelterbelts or anyone wanting to attract birds and pollinators while adding a bit of colour that most gums can only dream of.

🌱 50 mm square tubes — $3.00 each

🌿 Things are starting to get very real out at Barossa Native Plants! 😁

The benches are filling up, the layout is coming together beautifully, and the last load of plants made the trip from Nuthin but Natives over the weekend. Safe to say there’s a fair bit of excitement building behind the scenes.

And before anyone asks… yes — the prices will be exactly the same as here at Nuthin but Natives, along with the same friendly help, advice, and plant nerd conversations you’ve all become used to 😄

We’re taking the “slow and steady” approach for opening day details though… no point creating absolute chaos before everyone’s had a chance to settle in properly 😅

Not long now 🌱

🌿 BIG NEWS… well, medium-sized news… but we reckon it’s pretty bloody exciting 😁

Looks like the Barossa is about to get itself a serious native plant fix 🌱

Our good mates are opening Barossa Native Plants in the coming weeks — and yep… you’ll be seeing plenty of the same hardy plants we grow here at Nuthin but Natives making their way down there.

So if you’ve ever thought:
“Geez, I wish Booleroo Centre was a bit closer to the Barossa…”
…your prayers have finally been answered 😂

Same plants. Same prices. Same obsession with Australian natives.

More details coming soon 👀

🌸 Eremophila gibbifolia (Coccid Emu Bush) 🌸

A rare little beauty with real character — known for its tiny, bumpy (almost warty) leaves and soft lilac to purple flowers with speckled throats. Not your average emu bush, and that’s exactly why people love it.

A naturally compact shrub, growing to around 0.6–0.9m high and roughly 0.5–1m wide, making it perfect for smaller gardens or feature planting.

🌿 Tough once established
🌿 Handles drought & frost
🌿 Loves well-drained soils

A great option if you’re chasing something a bit different that still ticks all the hardy native boxes.
