Final night ever of my Christmas lights. Saturday the 17th 7-10pm.

After much soul searching I have decided to give up my hobby of Christmas lights for good. I will put them on one final time this Saturday night the 17th from 7-10pm, hand out lollies and give everyone who wants one last look the opportunity to come.

It’s been a fun hobby but there comes a point for everyone when it’s the right time to say goodbye.

I value and appreciate the warm reception from the community and I am humbled by the joy my art has brought to the community.

Bullying and harassment isn’t okay.

I work my ass off for this community and to bring everyone joy. I made a decision yesterday to put out some safety cones to help keep the crowds who come after the fireworks safe. Every year it’s a huge concern to me the safety of the kids and especially when the large crowds exit the school after the carols event.

I wake up today and see this in my mailbox. If this person had mine or the communities interests at heart they would have come to my door and chatted to me personally. Instead they choose to anonymously bully me via the mailbox.

I would still encourage this person or people to engage with me directly to solve problems rather than bully me.

After six years of my life and crazy amounts of time and emotional energy, and even in the face of my mother ailing health I have maintained a commitment to the community and bringing it joy. But I am at the end of what I have to give. A person can only take so much before they break.

This letter breaks my heart and breaks me. I have nothing left to give.

Due to personal reasons lights are off tonight. 8th.

Further to my last post, there will be no lights in 2023. after many years of the hobby it’s time for a much needed break. A lot of other displays took a year off during covid, and now it’s my turn.

There are a lot of elements of the fountain that were never built to last 6 years or more and require significant ongoing repairs. Also it’s just really ugly. So next year is a chance to sit back and plan what the future might look like and how we can go forward with a display that doesn’t require as much rework and stress every year. (And isn’t an ugly black hole in my front yard)

Hi all,

The plan was to start tonight, and that’s still the plan. There might be some elements not working entirely as expected but that will be resolved between now and the end of the weekend.

No giant tree this year as the construction includes some risks that have not been overcome.

Also my fountain lights have not managed to last the previous 12 months of weather and I’ll be unable to source any replacements for this years show.

there is a new high density screen of 61k pixels being added behind the fountain.

Also no bubbles or fog this year due to the high maintenance requirements.

Some small tweaks to go but part of the new additions this year are coming together.

The final part of a rebuild of the 11,500 light matrix across the front of the house is now complete. Christmas is coming fast.

Final night tonight and a short set from 7pm-8:30, earlier if no one comes due to the rain. Thanks for all the support this year. It’s been epic.
