Building on 40 Years | Entering the Next Chapter

After more than 40 years establishing and leading Oztal Architects, Dominic has formally handed over leadership of the practice to Directors Nick, Frank and Dean.

Dominic’s contribution to Oztal cannot be overstated. From its inception through to its growth as a respected design practice, his drive, commercial acumen and commitment to quality have shaped the foundation upon which the practice stands today. Many of our long-standing client and consultant relationships were forged through his energy and entrepreneurial spirit.
While Dominic is stepping back from the day-to-day operations and governance of Oztal Architects, he will remain active within the broader design, construction and property industry and may contribute to selected initiatives in an advisory capacity.

Over recent years, Oztal has progressively implemented a structured succession strategy, strengthening the studio, refining delivery systems and expanding sector capability across multi-residential, mixed-use, commercial, education and government projects. The practice now moves forward under the active leadership of Nick, Frank and Dean.

This transition marks a deliberate evolution for Oztal. While our commitment to trusted client partnerships remains, we are sharpening our focus on design leadership pursuing more ambitious, design-driven outcomes supported by an experienced director group and an energised studio.
As part of this next phase, we are expanding our footprint across NSW and regional markets, building on existing relationships and delivering projects in and beyond the ACT. With established experience across multi-residential, mixed-use, commercial and government sectors, we are well positioned to contribute to emerging precincts and growing regional centres.

We sincerely thank Dominic for the foundation he has built over four decades. His contribution to Oztal’s reputation and longevity has been significant, and we acknowledge the role he has played in shaping the practice to this point.

Living at the Threshold

Our latest residential vision is guided by six principles:
Contextual | Connected | Crafted | Light-Filled | Sustainable | Liveable.

We’ve focused on creating homes that:
- Respect their surroundings – balancing confident urban presence with calm landscaped edges.
- Connect people and spaces – through shared amenities, green spaces, and thoughtful entry sequences.
- Celebrate Built Form – with articulated façades, terraces, and human-scale design.
- Bring in natural light – maximising northern exposure, cross-ventilation, and framed views.
- Embrace sustainability – using orientation and passive strategies to enhance comfort and efficiency.
- Enhance liveability – generous terraces and communal spaces that encourage relaxation and connection.

The result is a residential environment that feels balanced, thoughtful, and welcoming – designed to set a new benchmark in modern living.

The bold folded Aramax roofline gives this local centre its distinctive edge, giving a strong linear rhythm to the façade and a dynamic edge to the public frontage.

Paired with expressed joint cladding and timber look soffits, the palette strikes a balance between robust structure and refined detail a hallmark of our approach to contemporary retail and community architecture.

A Vision for a Connected Precinct

The design vision for the precinct was to create a place that balances community, commerce, and culture. The intention was clear to establish a vibrant neighbourhood hub that supports daily life while fostering long-term growth and sustainability.

The design brings together high quality commercial spaces, welcoming public realms, and thoughtfully integrated residential living. Each element is connected through a cohesive vision that prioritises people, place, and purpose.
