Since 1932, this building has been home to fresh bread, manufacturing, printing presses, warehouses, workshops, and showrooms. Each era has left its mark on the building.

This restoration embraces that history, preserving the character of the original structure while giving it a new purpose for the years ahead.

MEET THE TEAM – Kien Nguyen

Q1. What made you get into architecture?
I started studying architecture without having much idea of where it might lead me. Then I had the chance to see Wright’s Fallingwater, read Kahn’s Silence and Light, and experience some of Jean Nouvel’s projects. That’s when my connection with architecture truly began.

Q2. What made you choose DNA?
DNA attracted me with the wealth of creativity reflected in its projects. Here, each project has its own “DNA” and tells its own story. To me, that’s a sign of a great design environment where talent is supported by smart teamwork.

Q3. What did you study/what degree do you have?
I completed my first Bachelor of Architecture degree at the National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE) in Hanoi, Vietnam, and later earned a Master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Design from ENSAPLV in Paris, France.

Q4. Why did you decide to move to Canberra?
We decided to move to Canberra because of its friendly community, beautiful natural surroundings, and reputation as a great city for families.

Q5. Who are you outside of DNA?
Outside of DNA, I’m a nature lover, a Tai Chi practitioner, and a keen amateur painter.

Q6. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to visit the Serengeti in Tanzania. I first learned about it through the Planet Earth series narrated by Sir David Attenborough. It would be fantastic to experience this incredible place with my own eyes.
