I recently completed a sensory garden for a client who is blind and deaf. The scope of works required a water feature, an egg swing, a bridge through the garden and different surfaces for the client to walk on in bare feet. Of course it needed many sensory plants to invoke the senses of touch, taste and smell. The plant selection also looks pretty and none of the plants are toxic. The obvious choices are herbs, but this garden has native bush food plants, perfumed climbers and shrubs, velvety feeling leaves and even some rough feeling plants to provide interest. The mosaic pebble section near the water feature will be good for walking on and tracing the patterns with curious hands. It gave me a lot of pleasure creating this garden for someone who really needs it.
