Silly season has officially arrived — and creativity is in full swing!

Last Thursday night Chi from our Brisbane office joined the team at for a gingerbread building contest, focused on the theme of sustainability.
Peddle Thorp and joined forces to develop their gingerbread masterpiece, deciding it was time for a sustainable upgrade to the holiday transport fleet aka, Santa’s reindeer and their workplace conditions. Taking a creative twist, we decided to flip the classic gingerbread house on its roof.

Introducing The CMS Express — a fully electric, solar-powered gingerbread train, designed to be animal-cruelty-free, environmentally friendly, and full of holiday spirit.

A big thank-you to StyleCraft for organising such an engaging and enjoyable event. It was a great opportunity to connect, collaborate, joining forces with a lot of icing sugar.
Here’s to creativity, community, and a sustainable future — one gingerbread creation at a time.

In celebration of World Architecture Day we have been looking back at some of our favourite projects. Over the years we have been lucky to collaborate with some amazing clients and communities to design and oversee construction of community shaping buildings in buildings that form the backdrop of people’s lives. This year’s theme ‘design for strength’ is reflected in the enduring partnerships we build with our clients and the lasting impact of the places we help create. Spaces that strengthen connection, belonging, and resilience within their communities.

Last week marked the official opening of the Waigani National Courts Complex in Port Moresby — the largest single building investment ever undertaken by the PNG Government and a proud symbol of national progress as Papua New Guinea celebrates its 50th Anniversary.

The complex comprises three new buildings totalling over 25,000 sqm: A five-level Courts Building with 14 new courtrooms, including the Banco Court; A three-storey Administration Building housing registries and support agencies; A single-storey Security Arrivals Building

Designed by with and , the project reflects over a decade of vision and commitment by the PNG Judiciary, with invaluable support from Andrew Duggin (MGF) and Jason Stewart (Infrastructure Advisor to the Judiciary).

The Peddle Thorp team — Brett Hudson and Cameron Grant — joined Diane Jones from PTW and our Peddle Thorp Asia Pacific colleagues Rita Karaie and Ilai Alfred in attending the day’s celebrations.
This is more than just a building: it is a civic landmark that will serve generations of Papua New Guineans, symbolising justice, accessibility, and legacy.

In collaboration with and Place Design, Peddle Thorp helped bring the Toowoomba City Library & Civic Plaza to life, transforming over 6,800 m² into a light-filled, inviting civic hub.

Our design balances form, function, and beauty, crafting interiors that feel welcoming and flexible, from community rooms and open lounges, all shaped to enhance wellbeing and connection.

The interior reflects that warmth through natural textures, transparency, and fluid spatial planning.

Throwing it back to 1988, Central Plaza stands as a defining feature in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD.

A joint commission between Peddle Thorp Architects and Kisho Kurokawa Architect and Associates, this Land Equity Group development features two crystalline towers that showcase both innovation and cultural expression.

The foyers draw inspiration from the Japanese game Go and the Western game of chess, symbolising the coexistence of two cultures, while a running stream honours Brisbane’s riverfront heritage.

Its prism-shaped roof is an engineering feat, able to lift three metres and rotate 360º, transforming into a 47-metre-long crane for maintenance.
