Fitzgibbon Community Garden

Fitzgibbon Community Garden Proudly cared for by the Fitzgibbon Green Thumbs to enable the community to grow fresh produce. We a The garden was opened in August 2013.

The Fitzgibbon Community Garden is in Mount Kaputar Avenue, Fitzgibbon, 4018. Fitzgibbon Chase is an “affordable housing” estate developed by Economic Development Queensland (EDQ). Fitzgibbon is in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, bounded by Carseldine, Bracken Ridge and Taigum. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our garden grows: the Turrbal people. It is a privilege

to garden on Turrbal land, and we pay our respects to elders past and present. The Fitzgibbon Green Thumbs have two purposes: to care for and enhance the local environment and to nurture a community garden. Our vision is that, through gardening, we will create and nurture an inclusive, connected community where the lives of participants are enriched as they learn and share in sustainable activities that enhance their health and our environment. We have a ratio of 60:40 communal to individual plots, and a waiting list for individual plots. The current donation for an individual plot is $30 per six months. All members are involved in caring for the communal plots, working bees, group activities and fundraising. Anyone is welcome to apply for membership, which is currently free. We encourage new members to purchase our special gardening apron to enhance their visibility when attending the garden and park.
