Nelly's Green Thumb Tip #7: SUMMER MOWING

With the summer months fast approaching it's time to increase your mower height. Keeping the blades longer creates shade for the soil, which decreases water evaporation and keeps the soil cooler. It also increases surface area for sunlight, which helps grass process nutrients and encourages stronger growth. In high traffic areas this is especially important as stronger grass can withstand the stress of being trampled on better than weaker grass can. (Stating the obvious here!)

Your ideal blade length is dependent on the type of grass you have so feel free to DM us to discuss the optimal length for your grass this summer. πŸŒžβ˜˜πŸŒΏπŸƒπŸ€πŸŒ±β˜€οΈ

Nelly's Green Thumb Tip #6: GET GOING WITH HOMEGROWING!

For those of you that are growing summer fruit and veg, to harvest your homegrown goodness as early as possible, start planting your seeds and cuttings now. Depending on what you're growing, you may have fresh produce ready to be eaten by mid-late spring and may be lucky enough to harvest again in summer. If you have a veggie patch that has remained dormant during winter (a bit like us at the moment), you'll want to give your soil a good turn for aeration and mix in some good quality compost before you begin planting. Once the seeds/cuttings are underground, give them a good drink of water before covering the surface with sugar cane mulch for your best chance at a successful crop.
Happy growing!!! πŸ’πŸ₯’πŸ‘πŸ†πŸ₯πŸ‰πŸŒ½πŸ‘
