Today I finally was able to ship some of our Kickstarter backer rewards! We appreciate the patience as we’ve had many bumps in the road. If you are interested in supporting us with a merch purchase, there is a limited quantity of our LG hats left, please let me know. 🧢 We also started a new food scrap pickup with . Great organization that helps support their Bushwick community. Thanks for the asparagus scraps and keep up the good work! l processed them by chopping up and layering on some carbon, in this case biochar. 🌿

Today I removed two large bags of trash from the lot. It makes me feel much better knowing that these would have ended up in the ocean someway or another. Now she looks beautiful and clean. What have you done for the Earth today? 🌎

Thank you all for your food scrap donations! We are turning it all into compost gold! Check out our graph! (It means a lot of food scraps were collected.) Also check out our new compost bin built by HEADS UP! We will not be collecting on Thursday for Thanksgiving but please feel free to drop them off yourselves (in the right most compost bin) or come by Sunday when we restart our collections.

Nothing ever goes without a touch of uncertainty with Mother Nature and the same principle applies with our project at Lafayette garden.

Last week The city’s forestry service came and removed the fallen tree (after months of ghosting us 👻) and in the process removed our fence. They don’t have any plans to re-install it so we are taking matters into our own hands ! The effort is more than our small team can manage on our own, tbh we need all the help we can get.

We had plans to use funds raised via Kickstarter (thanks to all the backers!!) for winterizing the garden, a solution for water collection and a more efficient composting system. We didn’t budget for a new fence as this is way out of left field and the materials alone will cost us close to $1000.

Please DM us if you are willing to help put the fence up (date/time coming soon), want to donate towards the garden fund for materials, or share put your signature down to help move our petition to the city forward. Any and all support is greatly appreciated , big bless and thank you 😊

Well the city finally came and took out the fallen tree but in their wake they removed the fence, wrecked the lot, and destroyed our compost piles. We have worked hard to make this a space for the community and since we are not yet an official garden, none of these issues are important to the city. In the meantime we will be slowly working back towards the garden we had last week. Thursday food scrap drop offs will continue as planned , but what we really need right now is volunteers and activists to support and rally for our garden. In these difficult times, when organic waste services have been limited and defunded we are here to provide solutions for our community! We received over 200 pounds of food scraps yesterday that we quickly dealt with in our new composting container. New changes also include a new bench for seating and lots of new bird friends! 🐦 @ Bedford-Stuyvesant
