A summer Saturday in Providence in the newly opened 195 District Park pavilion ☀️

A new public amenity in the heart of Providence, the 3,500 SF building offers concessions from two local businesses, public restrooms, and support space for park staff.

ARO’s design frames panoramic views of the Providence River and downtown skyline, welcoming visitors from the surrounding neighborhoods and the nearby Van Leesten Memorial Pedestrian Bridge.

The cedar shiplap rainscreen references coastal Rhode Island’s vernacular and the adjacent pedestrian bridge’s wood material.

A canopy shades visitors and new public seating and a sloped green roof limits stormwater run-off while screening rooftop mechanical systems.

The Pavilion enhances a sense of place and encourages year-round activation.
