💛Welcome to the newest member of our team, Mil Ahmed.💛

She is a Graduate of Architecture from Curtin University with a strong interest in site responsive design and the relationship between nature & the built environment. She enjoys creating meaningful spaces and exploring digital workflows and is always curious about new ways of thinking and learning.

Outside of work, she loves being in nature and making things, whether that’s cooking, baking, or building small furniture. If it’s hands on, she’s probably into it.

🌳🏚 Dingley Dell Farmhouse Update

💛Our stonemason has been booked to undertake minor repairs to the mass masonry walls in early May. There is only minor cracking and mortar spall, with the majority still straight and true after 115 years.

💛A retired local carpenter with appropriate old-school skills will start on the renewal of the jarrah Porch verandah in a like-for-like heritage conservation-approved replacement using salvaged timber and the existing frail structural members as templates.

💛There will be five 100 x 100 verandah posts, six rafters with notches to hold the gutter, a hefty verandah beam, and recycled galvanised steel roofing, gutter and downpipe recovered on site. We will use recycled galvanised mini-orb to replace the asbestos-containing fibre cement sheeting spandrel on the west end.

💛Carpet installation is now underway at Kondinin Pavilion, marking another step closer to completion.👣
With finishes going in, the spaces are starting to feel more resolved and ready for use, supporting both sporting events and community activities. The club room in particular is coming together well, with great views out to the oval.

👀We’re looking forward to sharing the final stages as the project nears completion.

👷Progress is well underway on Kondinin Pavilion, with great momentum on site as the structure continues to take shape.

Internal framing is advancing steadily, with wall systems being installed and services beginning to come together. It’s exciting to see the transition from base structure to defined spaces, giving a real sense of how the building will function and feel.

A big credit to the team on site, working collaboratively to keep things moving efficiently and safely. We’re looking forward to sharing more updates as the project continues to evolve.

Stay tuned as Kondinin Pavilion comes to life.

✨At the Office of Regional Architecture, we don’t just build on the land; we design for the life already there.

🌿This National Eucalypt Day, we’re celebrating our most frequent "consultant", the Eucalypt. From framing views to inspiring material palettes, these icons are at the heart of almost every project we do.

🌳We have a particular soft spot for the Marri (Corymbia calophylla). Beyond its rugged bark and "ho**ey nuts," it is a vital skyscraper for our local Black Cockatoos. Whether they are nesting in ancient hollows or feasting on seeds, the relationship between the Marri and the Cockatoo reminds us why regional architecture must always be about habitat, not just housing.

For us, a successful design is one where the shadows of a gum tree feel right at home on a new veranda.

Happy National Eucalypt Day!

💛Restoring a 1925 stone house in Brookton is a journey of uncovering layers of Western Australian history. Every cracked mortar line tells a story of 100 years in the WA Wheatbelt. We’re just here to write the next chapter. 📖🧱

If these walls could talk, what do you think they’d tell us? And more importantly, what should we turn it into?

💛ORA are assisting the York Motor Museum by preparing a Conservation Management Plan for the 1908 Windsor Buildings, which are Museum headquarters, and which houses a fascinating collection of vehicles and motoring memorabilia, including the collection of cars previously owned by Peter Briggs.

The goal of the CMP is to give direction to the Community committee primarily on the repair and restoration of the facade, which is currently in perilous condition caused by so-called concrete cancer.

💚🌳ORA's Director Rosalie Pech Eva, went to the ACA Members breakfast at Wards Central Dining in Shenton Park.

Great networking event to kick off the ACA WA calendar, with new members and new Committee members join ACA WA President Kukame McPierzie for a lovely breakfast under the trees.
Kukame spoke about the advocacy role of the ACA WA which addresses State government and industry representative bodies regarding member interests, supported by our sponsors Rondo, Lysaght, Armstrong and Woodpecker.
