During 30% of burglaries the occupants are home, and when you've been burgled once, your home is more likely to be broken into again.
Thieves will often return within three months, giving you enough time to replace the things they stole with your insurance payout.
This also gives them a good idea of what they’ll be getting.
After being burgled, people usually avoid upgrades to their security, using reasons such as, ‘The horse has already bolted,’ and remain under the false assumption that ‘lightening doesn’t strike in the same place twice.’
But it does.
Thieves are often opportunistic and spontaneous, but whether they’ve planned their raid or not they avoid homes which have good security in place.
If they can’t quickly get in and out, they’ll move on to somewhere easier.
Don’t be ‘somewhere easier’.
